Thanks for the help in the link the comment: Terri-Leigh H.October 19, 2015 07:44 Hi Jason On El Capitan, some of the server settings for Outgoing mail are reverted to Apple's default so you'll need to complete the following to get Mail connected again: Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts >...

Yes I can get it from the web. By the way if I ignore the message the account still sends and receives fine. Thunderbird works fine.

    Mail Password Required El Capitan

This is an imap account with Time Warner. In any case I can still send and receive mail. Reentering I know there are lots of messages on this subject but I would like the latest. I tried deleting the account and then reentering. No go. I have another imap account with TW which does...

    Official: Sierra Thread

Yes the icons are monochrome in El Capitan. Onyx and deeper work well in El Capitan. You may have to upgrade to an El Capitan version.

    Official: Sierra Thread

Well what I was afraid of is happening. Developers are releasing software that requires Sierra. I wonder what % of users have Macs that can run Sierra? I have a MacPro 3,1 which doesn't run Sierra. Apple provides no similar new hardware. One can get a used Macpro 4,1 but how long will it run...

Well there is your answer. No upgrades to any Mac desktop! Plenty of price increases. Maybe next year.

    System Preferences Window Cutoff

I created a new user. The sys pref works correctly here.

    System Preferences Window Cutoff

I did two reinstalls and 1 11.6 combo update with no success.

    System Preferences Window Cutoff

Yes it is the latest. Same thing happens using Apple display preferences.

    System Preferences Window Cutoff

"Go to Displays (not visible, so SwitchResX should work), change your screen resolution to anything different, then change it back. That should bring back off-the-screen windows." This works until you quit sys pref and reopen it.

    System Preferences Window Cutoff

Disconnecting t second monitor did not help. I found out that I change the display resolution from the native resolution to a lower resolution the problem goes away even if I return to the native resolution. However quiting and then reopening brings back the problem.

    System Preferences Window Cutoff

I removed all non Apple panes and all "com.apple.BezelServices.plist" files. Problem persists. Another piece of the puzzle. If I minimize the sys pref window and then reopen it by clicking in the dock icon, the window opens normally.

    System Preferences Window Cutoff

Delta Mac's suggestion did not work. I do appreciate everyone's suggestions. Somewhere is stored the coordinates where System preferences initially opens. But where? So let me explain: When I initially open sys pref it is positioned as shown above. If I close sys pref and reopen it the same...

    System Preferences Window Cutoff

If all I wanted to do was reposition the window I can use mission control. That restores the complete window.

Show Icon Preview No Longer Workingi Have Show Icon Preview Checked In View Options But They Do Not

My MacPro 3,1 does not officially support Sierra. There is a way around it so I wanted to at least look at it. I see nothing of interest for me. But I do not want to use it for real work. I have 7 HDs in this setup. I have 10.6.8, 10.9.5, 10.11.6, and 10.12 on different bootable partitions. By...

Actually Quicklook does not work. I have cleaned all the cashes that I know about and rebuilt launch services.

Show Icon Preview No Longer Workingi Have Show Icon Preview Checked In View Options But They Do Not

Yes I tried that. I believe the clue has to do with Sierra. I run el_capitan routinely. However I played around with Sierra from another hd. They both have access to the same Pictures folder. Apparently Sierra changes something in the pictures that allows them to show icon in Sierra but...
