    Driver Hacking

Ok, here's my situation, my dad has an unsupported USB CD-RW Drive that he could use with Toast under OS 9. The problem is, he can't use it at all in X. Not even with Toast PR2 for OS X. I was wondering where the drivers are kept in OS X and if it's possible for me to hack one of the current...

    Obtain OSX login Pword...

Finding the plain-text password is near impossible. You mey get it with a sniffer if they log in remotely, or as I said, a cracker/brute force program. You can't use the encrypted password to log in, because the OS encrypts whatever you put it. That means it will encrypt the encrypted...

    Obtain OSX login Pword...

If they havn't done any modification to the system, type "nidump passwd ." (including that period) in the terminal. That'll give you the encrypted password for each user. Now, you must either crack, or brute force. Both can take hours, sometimes days, depending on what the password is. There...

    Troubles with 10.1.1

I've had the EXACT same problems (except 3). That "artifact" thing happens to me even with a file name as short as "stuff.sit." I'm on a PowerMac G4 400MHz (Sawtooth) with OS 10.1.1, 512MB of RAM, and AirPort.

Installing OS X from CD Image

The only way to use a .img file to install OS X would be to burn it on a CD-R. The installation requires a start-up from a CD, after restarting. Since the .img file is on the Hard Drive, when you restart, it gets rid of the disk.

I had a similar problem with the OEM Rage 128 AGP card and a PCI Xclaim VR 128. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to fix it. Well, I just decided to swtich PCI slots. For some reason, it worked like a charm! I have no idea why, but just putting it in a different slot kicked it...

    10.1.1 Clock Woes

I noticed after the 10.1.1 update, when 12:00 AM comes around, instead of saying 12:00 AM it says 00:00 AM. I tried entering 12 manually in the Date & Time section of System Prefs, but that set it to PM, so I clicked to make it AM and it set it back to 00! Is there a way to fix this or is it a...

    Slight System Speed Inrcrease

It's in the /Applications/Utilites folder. It basically allows you to interface with the core itself rather than go through the Aqua interface. I find that everytime I do this, it finds about 1800 files that need to be pre-bound and about 700 that need to be re pre-bound. And please, DON'T...
