Intel are a stronger company in the server / high end market. The only company that sells AMD cpus in their servers is Sun Micro and for them it was probably because it was cheaper.. (look at their share price) Intel might be lagging on 64bit, but I know my Intel Xeon servers have always been...

I think you will see intel based macs in the market pritty quick. I dare say you wont ever see a PowerBook g5, the next powerbook might be intel based.

just picked up mmy copy. Installed with no fuss and I am up and runnings. Widgets are cool! I want more.. There was not much of a launch party.. I think everyone was keen to go home and install it.. Some of the city apple centres where doing promos.

Its a political statement.. Ditch them as a supplier and hurt the bottom line. Apple could choose to see it as a damaging move towards them (writing about jobs in a light they dont like) and that in turn could hurt their bottom line. I think apple should have just ignored it.. how...

It might not be anything to write home about..but apple are not going nuts about advertising this as a massive update. It is the forums which are doing just that. Its just bringing the machines up to date as far as standard ram and dvd drives. I was disappointed that my g5 only had 256mb ram...
