I have been into wireless for a few years now and find it amazing how many open networks exist. Honestly you should secure your network as you dont want someone using your internet for dodgy things. (Kiddy Porn, Hax0ring teh GibS0n, etc)

Tried that.. and got Nada.. nothing.. zip. It didnt even show up in the system profile. The card is brand new, in the box from intel. Its not a specific mac version if their is such a thing. It was brought through a Wintel vendor.

I want to get a Gigabit PCI ethernet card working in my mac. I know that the Intel cards are supported on the G4 when using FreeBSD and I have heard whispers of their being drivers for this thing under OS X but yet to find anything. Can anyone offer any advice or help??

I use a linksys AP and have to say the quality of signal to my mac is awesome. They are opposite ends of the house, and the signal never drops. Wish I could say the same for my laptop, it has a onirico pcmcia adapter and the signal is very weak. :(

I want to put a wireless card into my g4 however the airport extreme cards use a different socket to the airport slot in my sawtooth g4. Is there anyone who makes a 3rd party PCI card that will do this and work under osx?

I went to the apple store and played with a powerbook (400mhz) and a dual 1gig machine. both where heaps faster in the gui than my machine. So if its not cpu & video what is the cause of the speed delay.

Yes but honestly what is so fast about OS X? If the gui is slow then its going to lag everything by a little bit. Multi-media until QT6 has been faster on my p3
