This happened to me once, also. IIRC, I managed to repair it by repeated use of the disk repair utility on the systemCD. Mind you, it is about 1.5 years ago: that i-Book is now defunct (crashed backlight :( ) I hope you manage to salvage your data!

It should, but it does not: I tried this when I noticed that F7 didn't work. Thinking there might be more damaged I then used F11: which worked :rolleyes:
