    Wow! Internet Explorer 5.2.2

cabbage, actually it is MS's fault. Many others have used the same version of the MindVision software installer and have not required all apps to be quit. If they had taken the time to uncheck the little box that requires all apps be quit, we wouldn't have the problem. Of cource that...

    Mouse Shadow?

I was also under the impression that its a QE enabled "feature". I would think it would be slow on non QE systems because it removes the cursor drawing from the graphics card (where it normally lives) becuase Quartz has to calculate all the transarancy for the shadow for every move of the...

GPUL 64bits GigaProcessor for Mac (FOR SURE)

It was painless in the way that apps didn't break, they didn't get noticably slower (for me atleast, but my first PPC was the 7200/75) and except for all my new shareware apps having "FAT" in the name, it didn't cause me any pain. I know it caused problems for developers and some applications...

GPUL 64bits GigaProcessor for Mac (FOR SURE)

Being on a 64bit processor won't help the speed of kernel compiles, on the virtue of being 64bit alone. The GPUL (too close to GPL for my taste), is said to be quite a bit faster than what we have now even at the same clock speeds; so even with most applications being run in the processors...

When will we finally see the codename "Cheetah?"

Yeah my spelling can be bad sometimes, but im not quite sure I understand your criticism of my reading skills. Unless I completely missed the point of this thread (and with the topic drift I might have), its about people being unsure of the code names of the OS X releases. I simply pointed...

When will we finally see the codename "Cheetah?"

10.0 - Cheetah 10.1 - Puma 10.2 - Jaguar Thems the code names people, so unless apple decides to recycle code names, 10.0. will always be Cheetah, wether it ran like one or not.

    Kernel Panic panic

I doubt you missed anything... it has the begining and the end, so unless you some how messed up both cut and pastes its fine. As for what is causing them, i have no idea, since the back trace doesn't leave much info behind in this case.

    Kernel Panic panic

It just randomly panics? Do you have any common hardware between the two machines (SCSI is often a culprit in OS X)? I looked at the panic logs (which are in rtf format, not plain text like the extension makes it seem), and I didn't seen anything particularly striking (the back trace didn't...

    iMovie Title font "pixelized"

My titles looked crappy from with in iMovie, but once I had exported them for iDVD and viewed them from the quicktime player, or from my tv (after i burned it ofcource) they were smooth and looked fine. How are you viewing the exported movies?

    What does this error mean?

Im not sure why these applications would be causing netinfo to try and do RPC stuff, but from the error that seems to be the case. Do you have any other errors in your log files from netinfod or lookupd?

    Permissions Hell

I'm not sure I got your problem correct, but if its just the windows user who is creating files with the wrong permissions, i would suspect that the problem lies somewhere within the samba configuration. I'm not sure how samba handles umask's, but that could be the problem.

    Print sharing

I believe there is a way to make CUPS do SMB printer sharing, so yes, it should be possible, and I know there are alot of people out there who are trying it so there should be some step by step directions on the web soon (if there isn't already).

    Printer Sharing (10.2) Problems

Has anyone gotten Printer Sharing, in particular with USB printers, working in jag? I have my printer set up and I can print fine. I turned on Printer Sharing through system prefs, and my g/f's ibook can see it acrost the network. But when she tries to print to it, she imediatly gets a "There...

    Got Jag?

How well does the backup and install option work in the installer? I have it now and want to install it soon, but I have some iDVD projects and things that I can't afford to loose, and no place to back up 4gig+ files. Installed it on my g/f's iBook, and so far its nice and smooth, had a...

    iTunes costs $49.00

You've hit the nail on the head, so to speak. If you are running as root, then all your apps are running as root. If any of them have a flaw, the whole comp can be effected.
