    New CD Labeling Technology

But that would make the drive twice as expensive, no? I'd be quite happy flipping my disc over to get a burnt-on label. I'd love to see them work color into it. Is that even possible? I suppose if the top of the disc were coated in some material that changes color based on how long it's...

    Guitar + Mac ?

I'd imagine you'd just need a 1/4 in -> 1/8 in adapter and an iMic. Maybe a nice preamp? Acoustic or electric shouldn't matter, so long as it's got an output. :) I too am worried about my bass. I'm not gonna blow anything up, right?

By all means, refuse to restart, and forget my Dock settings, I don't mind a bit!

Today I noticed my uptime was almost a month, and I thought I be a polite young lad and give my G4 the ol' restart. But when I tried, all I got was a cursor against the desktop picture. Nothing lists in the cmd-opt-escape window, and Cancel and Sleep are the only functional buttons in the...

    Jobs: Minis for iPod owners

Why on earth would anyone need two? The iPod is not a large device. I'm sure it wouldn't get in the way any more than a slightly smaller one. Unless they cut prices drastically, I see G4 Cube all over again. Boo. :(

Differnces between Soundtrack and Garage Band?

GarageBand (why oh WHY wouldn't they use a space there?!) also contains an amp modeling system, which I hope will be very very hackable. I'm quite excited about this, because living in an apartment means giving up nice guitar amps. :'( I'd pay $50 for that alone. EDIT: Oops, Arden covered...

    Mini IPod Prices

Interesting, from http://www.daringfireball.net/ : I still gotta agree with y'all though: it simply doesn't make sense to buy one. Unless you really, really want a slightly smaller iPod. But who really needs something smaller than the 15 GB? I hope I'm wrong, but I smell a flop.

    DV editer, NOT IMOVIE

I'd hit eBay for "dazzle hollywood dv bridge". I just sold mine for about $150. Probably not a bad price if you've use for the gadget. I'm not sure Dazzle makes them anymore, but there are other brands. All you need to use it is a Firewire port and a video source, like a VCR or camcorder.

    DV editer, NOT IMOVIE

I've used iMovie to import video from a Dazzle bridge. Worked like a charm.

    Personal Portfolio Launched!

I hate to be off topic, but while we're talkin' about the icons, what's the deal with the numerals on that pocket watch? III and VI are right, but the other two...? I keep looking at it trying to figure it out, like a riddle or something, but I'm stumped.

What *IS* that on the Soundtrack box?

Definitely a Techincs brand tonearm. Out of proportion like that, though, it looks like some kind of futuristic mechanical/woodwind thing. I'd imagine it to sound like an elecrtic kazoo. :)

What is REALLY annoying in the web sites?

Honestly, you'd be surprised. :) I always wonder when I see them, have ads like that ever actually caused someone to have a seizure? I know movies and theme park rides can, but those are on quite a larger scale. Anyone know how that kinda stuff works?

What is REALLY annoying in the web sites?

Limiting the width ensures a readable line length. :) Negative space is not the same thing as wasted space. CSS's max-width provides a nice way to limit line length while still allowing text to "liquify" within smaller windows.

No S.M.A.R.T. status in Panther's Disk Utility?

Of the three hard drives connected to my computer, only one displays S.M.A.R.T. status. I think it just depends on the disk. It doesn't appear in their screenshot because they have a single volume selected, not an actual disk.

What is REALLY annoying in the web sites?

My additions... - "Liquid layouts" that expand to fill your browser window and render any body copy painful to read - Layouts that are too fat and won't fit in your browser window and introduce horizontal scroll bars - Sites that validate but have absolute crap for code - Sites that...
