    Very nice, Scott

*clap*clap*clap*clap* Thank gaaawd! Suggestions: smaller name headers, maaaybe bigger post title headers, definitely bigger message text. I don't know how much control you have over the layout, but it might be cool to have the date, post number, name, avatar, join date, and posts...

Where to get Newton Connection Kit?

http://www.unna.org/unna/apple/connection_utils/ForMac/NewtonConnectionKit/ http://www.unna.org/ is like, the place for Newton software. :)

    PHP extentions and config file?

I'm quite fond of http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/ for all my Mac OS X PHP needs. :)

    Stupid Finder Icon Bug

I'm not sure how your monitor is calibrated, but I would hardly call the difference "a lot." Photoshop says that the RGB of the first pixel just under the left eye of the About icon is 78,139,211 (43% black) and the same pixel of the Dock icon is 96,129,214 (42% black). I don't think those...

Cron jobs when shutdown? Run at boot?

They don't run at all. Google says there are alternative programs that will run jobs at the next boot, like hc-cron, but I haven't the slightest idea as to how to install them. Perhaps someone with some experience can help...

    MacOS X.4 User Interface Idea

Why further clutter the Finder when you can access it from Sherlock? The difference isn't actually the way the information is shown; it's the information. Web sites are composed of text, images, flash content, etc., while hard drives and FTP sites are composed of files, folders...

    Kill Bill

I saw half of it a few weeks ago. I heard it'd be bloody, but holy christ! I had to get up half way through because I just couldn't watch any more. What a loser. :P The movie itself seemed like it'd've been absolutely fantastic if I'd've stayed, as it had that cheesy kung-fu thing goin'...

    change icon order (menubar items)

Stuff like Konfabulator. I think it's something like Apple's got two APIs for menu items, and they keep the nicer one private or something. Correct me if I'm wrong, though, cuz I dunno.

    change icon order (menubar items)

Third-party menu icons are not command-draggable. Their order is determined by the order you launch them in, from right to left.

    MacOS X.4 User Interface Idea

If the Finder returns to 1:1 object navigation, then the address field feature we've described here would simply break it. :) I'm sadly confident that it will not happen, however, as 10.3 seems to have moved even further away from the classic Finder model.

    my hate/love relationship with CSS

I'm really bad at understanding other peoples' code, so I'm afraid I can't help ya there, but I can try to explain Class v. ID v. Span (v. Div)... The class attribute is used to indicate something is a particular uhm, class of something. For example: p class="footnote" could be wrapped...

My first url - now where to host it?

I too use ICDSoft, but I find them to be just a bit on the slow side, possibly due to their physical location (Hong Kong, if I remember right.) It's enough to make me window shop for a new host, but I probably won't end up leaving them unless something really good comes along. Everything...

    best all in one?

I've got one of the HP OfficeJet printer/copier/scanner/fax all-in-one machines. Under 10.2, I installed the drivers (which installed around 4,000 files, if I remember correctly) and it worked relatively well, but the quality of the software was just ... crap. The software was pure crap. Just...

    MacOS X.4 User Interface Idea

The search field is not a place to enter urls; it's a place to enter search terms. :) An address field, however, is a good idea, even without web access. Since the OS X Finder is essentially a file system browser, a path to the current directory would be a logical part of the window. I...

Is "snap-to" arrow cursor available in Panther?

I'm pretty sure Kensington's MouseWorks software supports this, though I haven't used it since before X came out, so maybe this feature has been removed. It's worth researching if you really want it. http://www.kensington.com/

    MacOS X.4 User Interface Idea

The Finder should not be a web browser for the same reasons Safari should not be a music manager and iTunes should not be an image editor and Photoshop should not be a text editor. :) Celeborn: that article should be read by every Mac user -- nay, computer user -- in the world. Thank you...

What are you, some kind of freaky evil genius? Thank you very much. :) It was indeed in /usr/local/bin and find sure did find it. You're my new hero. Thanks!

    Personal Portfolio Launched!

Visually, it's absolutely fabulous. I love your stuff. Really, really nice work. If your goal, however, is to separate style from content, I'd go pick up Zeldman's Designing With Web Standards book. I haven't read it myself, but it seems to be the bible modern markup. Yours is...

Lynx and Panther hate me. :(

I am running Panther, and tonight, I tried to install Lynx. So I found a nice little 2.8.4 package installer (http://www.osxgnu.org/software/Networking/lynx/), because compiling from source and I never really made friends, and gave it a run. I ignored the warning that it was a "Jaguar only...
