    Power Supplies in Macs

I recently read that iMacs bought in the US come installed with a 120V power supply. This is quite a change for Apple. In a world of region specific DVDs and now printer cartridges, why now the power supply? Why is Apple doing this? I recently bought my G5 in Los Angeles, but first turned it...

Any rumors on a possible G6?

No laughs, Lt. Burns. I've heard about those too, but I think it will be a LONG time before that would land in the commercial realm. One possibility, and I know it may never catch on, is the asynchronous chip that companies like SUN have been working on. Even Intel's test chip resulted in...

Any rumors on a possible G6?

According to Wikipedia, the G5 was introduced in 2003. And Wikipedia also states the G4 being introduced in August of 1999. I don't know when the G3 was introduced, but with a four year difference between the G4 and G5, perhaps 2007 is a possible time frame. However, I agree with the...

Any rumors on a possible G6?

Oh, don't take yourself so seriously. No problem. No offense taken. Just a little confusion. By the way Burns, are you sure your Cinema Display is better than your G5? A high bar to set.

    When is a ....?

Ran on diesel? I thought they were water powered? If you opened up the machine, you saw a little wheel spinning around. Perhaps they'll bring that back with these new water cooling systems.

iMac G5 Second Generation to come

I've always thought it's better to wait for the second incarnation of any Apple product. By then, any obvious bugs or problems should have hopefully been ironed out, in addition to the faster speeds and other candies.

How can I see work files from home?

Oh, and regarding not having a static IP address, another service (free) is DynDNS.org. There you do similar to what 'albloom' talks about: http://www.dyndns.org/

How can I see work files from home?

If you turn file sharing on under System Preferences, it will list an FTP address to use in which to access your account files. I think this is what you mean. Although this lists it within Tiger, should be pretty much the same in Panther: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/security/

How to get Safari/Explorer to print background images?

If you know CSS, you could include a special 'Print' style sheet for the purpose of printing. You would have to change it slightly to fit the stylesheet, but that's commonly used in situations like yours. You can read more about this here: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/goingtoprint/

    OS/X Video Conferencing with Yahoo?

Yeah, regarding point #2, you can chat from iChat to PC AIM. It's announced here over a year ago: http://www.breakingwindows.com/new/2004/02/ichat_av_aim_up.php Plus, you don't have to use just iSight. My mom uses another type of cam (USB), and is able to chat both via Yahoo Messenger...

    Color Display

Hi, I have a general question regarding color display between Mac and PC. I have often heard the argument that Macs are always better for graphics, of which I whole-heartedly agree, as I do graphic design myself. But my question is why? What is the technical background to this, why Macs...

Any rumors on a possible G6?

What I don't get is that I didn't write in that gibberish language at all. Just two exclamation points in a row. I guess I'll just have to be careful how I express myself in the future........................... By the way, Jeff, very nice website design. Very slick. Nice pencil idea...

Any rumors on a possible G6?

I'm sorry, but you completely lost me in that last post. Is it forbidden here to use two exclamation points in trying to prove that I am happy at the work done on this site? Or is it better than I use corny little smiley-face icons to prove the point? I do seem to fall under your 5...

Any rumors on a possible G6?

Ah, I suppose that's the answer I've been looking for. Oh, and believe me, I'll be happy with my new G5 dual 2.0 for quite some time. I lived with a 450 megaherz G3 (blueberry) for over 6 years, of which I bought used. I guess some of these pages are what I've been looking for, even though...

Any rumors on a possible G6?

Hello all, Just curious to know if there has been any hint on the next generation Mac. I've done some searches on Google, but find nothing but some joke sites about possible new machines. Anything serious out there regarding potential time tables on when a new machine might be planned...
