    iTunes 4.0.1

Toast, I don't think it was Apple's intention to add then take away features in iTunes. It was there, it got abused, and now they had to remove it to minimize a backlash from the music companies over media management. Does it suck? Sure it does. I, for one, was just starting to enjoy...

Installing 3rd hard drive in my G4

With drive prices the way they are now, I swapped out my internal 60GB x 2 drives for a single 120GB (was IBM, now Hitachi) and am pretty pleased as my G4 has gotten quieter again. I had an external Firewire drive (20G/5400 rpm) so I stripped the drive out, replaced it with the quieter of the...

Hardware RAID Solutions - OS X

Has anyone tried out a hardware-based RAID solution such as Acard or Sonnet? Would like to know if: 1) partitioning of the RAIDed volume is possible and 2) bootable under OS X Server Thanks.

Am I a Traitor? I own an XBox now...

Dunno, until all the other game companies can get their act together and put a physics model together that will even come close to the GT series, I'll stick with my PS2... Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to attend an automotive event where they had 3 PS2s strung up through Firewire to...

    Uplink for Macintosh

Came across this while searching for non graphics-intensive, shoot-em-up games for my aging G4... Uplink for Macintosh From the main page: Reasonably entertaining and the final version should be pretty neat to play. Cheers.

iTunes must be open to share?

Or you could always just set up a simple Applescript/cron script to fire up iTunes on the hour, every hour (or whatever interval you desire) which would, in effect, keep iTunes open all the time. Cheers.

    Life=Computers?

Dunno about that... living out here in Tokyo, the Net (thus the computer) keeps me in touch with friends who have moved back to the U.S. In fact, I probably talk to them more regularly now via email and chat than we had opportunities to get together living in the same city! Is it "interaction"...

    Questions for the "Doves"

Guess France is changing their tune... hypothetically speaking, that is. When asked why the situation would change matters, Levitte said that "no army is allowed by treaties to use chemical and biological weapons. This is absolutely forbidden and if Saddam Hussein were to use these weapons then...

    Questions for the "Doves"

Dunno about the political intricacies, but it's clear that the road to peace was not as effective as hoped. After all, "disarming while protesting innocence" is akin to using a Windows PC but claiming that your boss made you do it... the fact is either you did or you didn't and it's time to...

Safari (60) - Security Settings Question

Not sure if this was covered before (searches don't reveal anything regarding this). Two different machines, same version of Safari (60) and using SafariEnhancer to enable the Debug menu (yeah, I know a simple edit on the plist works as well). In any case, I noticed that under the...

Duplicate pref panes...re-installed...same deal dif panes.

Try nuking the following file in your own Library folder: ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache as this will basically force your preference file for Preferences to be rebuilt. Works when you get an odd machine that loses Software Update or other pref pane. Cheers.

    Dell

Well, if you are using Norton Ghost to ghost an office full of PCs for an OS upgrade, a bootable floppy is pretty darn handy... DOS plus the ghost.exe and related files fit just within the confines of a 1.44 HD floppy! There are *some* advantages to having cheap, disposable storage...

Holy smokes, that's almost as ugly as taking apart my old Vaio 550z to do a hard drive swap... now THAT was a pain in the arse!
