    Safari...no home button? and...

So far so good... BUT of all places it won't open apple.com. Can't load the images for some reason. And as long as it lacks tabbed browsing I'll stick with Chimera.

Can't print from Linux to OSX

I have printer sharing with CUPS and Samba going on my OS X box with a Brother printer attached. After some false starts, it works fine printing from XP across the network. But I can't get my Linux box to recognize it. There seems to be little documentation on how to print TO a server in...

RUMOR: Best Buy To Sell Macs?

This would make a fair amount of sense. Best Buy used to sell Macs but quit with the 5 flavor iMacs, saying that Apple insisted resellers display all variants, and BB didn't want to devote that shelf space. Now the iMac is down to 2 variants (apperance wise) and would not take up space...

    Nvidia GeForce 3 Ti?

I am having some big problems with my GeForce3 Ti 500 under Linux. It works just fine (near as I can figure, I don't do anything other than play games) in XP. I think it's a configuration/kernel problem. No one has been able to help me figure it out. (in brief the monitor flashes and eventually...

    counter-strike Linux server?

I subscribed to the hlds_linux mailing list and learned what's up. THe game itself doesn't work on Linux (although you can get it to run under Wine), the server uses precompiled binaries from Valve that have all the half-life libraries. These won't work on the PPC architecture, so even PPC-Linux...

    counter-strike Linux server?

Is there a way that anyone knows of to run the counter-strike server for Linux on OS X? I've never seen the source code around, and I'm sure the precompiled binaries wouldn't work. It seems like it should be doable, but Google didn't reveal anyone talking about it. Anyone looked into this?

    gimp cursor problems

I found this, and it seems to solve the problem. The cursor isn't exactly like what it is in Linux, I see my arrow instead of a new cursor, but I can see the lines I draw with the crop tool etc, so it's functional enough. http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=675014&forum_id=142721

    gimp cursor problems

Hmmm.... that's the only solution, eh? I love OroborusX though. Too bad.

    gimp cursor problems

I am running the gimp along with OroborusX 0.8 preview 2. When I pick a tool all I can see is the standard arrow. I have searched the forums and it seems this problem is known, but the solution didn't jump out at me. One thread had something about updating XDarwin, but I installed everything...

    UFS or HFS+ ???

I haven't heard anything to indicate that apple is planning something past HFS+. Be got bought by Palm, and while many thought Apple would buy it and incorporate parts of their technology it didn't happen, so I don't know how keen Apple is on their stuff. There are some problems with HFS+...

    UFS or HFS+ ???

I think testuser mentioned what I was speaking of, cp, mv and all those things are often faster (I've seen posts indicating they can be dramatically faster) on UFS systems. That being said I've only used HFS+ and intend to keep doing so. I was just (academically really) pointing out that for...

    OS X On X-Files

Anyone got any screenshots of this for those of us that weren't watching?

    UFS or HFS+ ???

I think it's a little unfair to say that UFS is slower than HFS+. THere are some things that get done faster on a UFS system, I believe it deals with small files faster, etc. But overall speed is much better on HFS+. There are limited applications where UFS would be best, but basically if you...

Where can i download MAC OS X???

Hmmmm... I vaguely recall saving my allowance for weeks to buy the latest and greatest 8 bit Nintendo games. My how the times have changed. Not trying to be high and mighty here, it's just interesting to me how we have as a society and culture (the internet society and culture that is) come to...

    2.53GHz Pentium

That's a good question, which I hope someone knows the answer to. Hopefully it's about up :D . I think it's a good point that IBM would use their own product in a similar capacity to Apple, and that this is a good thing. Motorola uses the PPC as an embedded systems chip, so lo and behold...

    Someone try jaguar?

If you're wanting to keep all your chats in one app, why not use Fire? I'm going to have to be really blown away by iChat to move off of Fire, I think it's great. AIM, MSN, YIM, Jabber, all under one roof.

    2.53GHz Pentium

Yeah, that sounds good. Do that. :D Seriously though, I agree that there are steps that could be done before going x86. I really see Apple moving to x86 as a last gasp effort. If they're going bankrupt again, I'd bet they would drop an x86 OSX on the world to see if they couldn't reinvent...

    Sherlock 3 and html

SimX, do you work in marketing? :p iSurf, a brilliant name! What do you do with it? iSurf of course! A bit silly perhaps, but it is a nice cheery little name. Not sure it would go with Apple trying to be a serious unix based desktop OS....

    2.53GHz Pentium

OK, so can we all agree on the RAM and bus speed needs? I think so. I think the real problem here is not MHz, but the chip architecture. And I am quite afraid of the future frankly. I am no tech head and couldn't explain much past pipeline stages, but I think the advantage of the PPC...

Sherlock 3 >> Apple web browser?

Hmmm... that's if you think Gecko is up to snuff. Basically my view on all the browsers out there is that they've got some good things going, but not enough. Mozilla is reasonably quick, but fairly ugly to go along with it. I really am not sure Apple should go buying up OW (as a stock holder...
