I had troubles with booting my dual 867 into 9, but i know that this generation machine was right about the timeframe that they stopped allowing them to boot in 9. if memory serves me correctly there was some models of them that would and some that would not. it had to do with the BootROM on...

I am thinking it might be a clone, like a umax or powercomputing or something of that nature. Diablo is right that if it is a beige machine that you will have a chance with X using XPF, but it will not allow it to run on all beige machines.

I found on a few weeks ago on apples website in the get mac software section, i tested it out and it worked great and you could dictate the frame rate too, but it only did a small box, not the entire desktop. I forget what it was called exactly but it was a pretty self descriptive title.

If i remember correctly those machines had issues with waking up from a sleep in X.2.8 so that could potentially be the root of the problem? try to change the computers to never go to sleep in the enger saver prefpane. I could be remembering this wrong though.

i have 640 in my ibook and it is very usable, but not as smooth as panther was, but then again my dual 867 with 2gig of ram is not as soon as panther was either, nothing major, but just a bit more stuttery in the graphics.

open up the terminal and see if there are some hidden files/folders that could be containing the data. you could type in: ls -ail to get a description of all the files and folders. there is also a command line utility to list all of the largest folders/files on the drive in size...

the original card i believe was called an ATI Rage 128 Pro, if i remember correctly (and i even have one of these 450mhz models!).

I have filemaker pro, but have not installed it yet on tiger. I have installed filemaker developer v6 on tiger and it works flawlessly so far, for me. did you do an upgrade or clean install or archive and install etc etc? try to trash the preferences in your ~/Library/Preferences folder...

well i have that same type of a situation on my server. i have panther installed on the original 6 gig and then i have 5 other drives for all my data. granted i don't install all the programs like photoshop and route 66 and ilife and those otherr space hogging apps on that machine, but i NEVER...

some G5s have PCI-x slots and some have just plain PCI slots so that depends on which you have. I would image that if it has the plain PCI slots that you could use it as long as the card is OS X compatible.

i think you found your own error. i only understand english so that is all i have ever used, but if X is in english it is probibly expecting the same language for 9 and if that system is french that could be the problem, especially since it says that it cannot find the localized system.

well i have no experience with the powerbook, other then a display at a compusa and apple store, but i have a snow ibook. I love it, but i am very careful with anything that is abbrasive though because this shiney case seems to get light surface scratches very easy.

well i don't know about those, but i found my nephew (roughly 30 pounds at the time) standing directly on top of my brothers clamshell ibook with the lid closed. i snatched him off of it immediately and moved it, but the ibook was totally fine.
