I have not installed on a beige G3, but i have read some articles saying that on certain motherboards in the beige G3s that the position in the IDE chain matters. You might was to do some searches on the jumper/order of the drives and see if that brings back anything.

if i remember right all the eMacs had firewire, so that is the way i would suggest to go instead of USB. even if it is usb 2 i would still go with firewire, personally.

mine are not even worth posting, i use stock desktop picture almost all the time and the only icon that is ever on my desktop for longer than an hour or two is one network shared drive. I don't even have the internal harddrives on the desktop.
