    flac to mp3

You could try a program called FLACer, this will convert to AIFF and you can convert those to mp3 via iTunes. If you8 have access to a Windows system the easiest one to use that I have found is called Switch.

iPod treats audiobook tracks like regular music tracks

I would suggest a piece of software called Audiobook Builder, works really well and is very cheap. Check here for details http://www.splasm.com/audiobookbuilder/

    My Mac Seems Really Slow

That Mac should handle it fine, I have a 400Mhz PCI G4 with the same amount of Ram and that runs videos from youtube and other sites with no issues. Does it play movie files stored on the Mac OK ? If so I would suggest you check out the networking side of things as your problem may lay there.

    15" or 17" MBPro?

I'd go for the 15" for portability. I have no problem with mine which I use all day. If I need more screen real estate I just plug in a 19" flat panel screen and use that.

Just got my first Mac! ? on Parallels, Boot Camp, and Paritioning

I agree with Fryke on 2 & 3, but I would suggest that partitioning the drive as you suggest. It is good practice to keep data and system on separate partitions, that way a wipe and install will not remove data files.

Ok what the heck is this?

CJ, it is not desgined to be used like a typical computer it looks very interesting though I'm not sure what would happen if you put your feet up on it while watching the football :-) As for Microsoft stuff not working or selling I think the Xbox section might have a few comments to make on...

Why does iTunes lie to me?

I noticed this as well, after saying move them to the Trash the icon looked empty and the Empty Trash option was greyed out. However after noticing my dwindling hard drive space I opened the Trash and there they were and I was then able to delete them, or recover the one I hadn't meant to...

    Converting high Definition DVD Help

I know that it is possible to crack the encryption on an HD-DVD certainly on a PC there is a utility to do this and from there copy it to the Hard Drive. I don't think there is a conversion utility to convert it to normal DVD anf if there is you are going to need enormous amounts of disk space...

Help in IP & Wireless issue

You need to leave your Mac set to pick up it's IP address by DHCP. The original problem was caused, as I understand it, by you manually entering the IP address. The wireless system is obviously running a dhcp server and issuing IP addresses on a first come first served basis. The error message...

    Windows/Mac server

If you want to implement Active Directory to Windows based clients you are going to have to use a Windows server. A decently specified system with at least 4GB RAM will handle VPN and File stores perfectly well, just make sure you have plenty of disk space. Neither OSX or Windows 2003 will do...

    Off network login problem

The user is the sole user on the machine. The user's home network share would mount if it was connected to the network, but that is the same on all the other Powerbooks and they seem to have no problem. I was thinking maybe a profile problem, but I can't narrow it down any further as the user...

    Off network login problem

I have a Powerbook user who is having problems logging in when not connected to the network. In common with all other Mac portables it is bound to the Active Directory domain with a mobile account being created. When the machine is not physically connected to the network and the user tries to...
