One idea would be to boot from your OSX CD/DVD and not reinstall your os but use the Disk Utility to repair your disk permissions. Hope that will help you out.

There are a couple of bugs the Finder still has when it comes to network environments. Use the Apple+K keycombo in the Finder and type 'smb://your.pc.ip.adress' or 'smb://yourpcname'. This is the most reliable method to access your files on the PC. And welcome to the forum.
