I had this problem on my ibook and ended up having to back up all my data and reinstall os x. I tried many differents things and nothing worked. reinstalling should do the trick.

You don't have to have an AOL email address to use aim all you need to do is register a screen name.

If you want to turn pinning off. just go to the divide bar on the dock and and control click it and there will be an option pin. Choose the one that you want. Unless you like using the command line. I am currently working on learning to use the command line. But this is much easier.
