    OSX x86 leaked?

Every PC kiddie with a cable modem is going to download, try it for 5 minutes, confirm that it sucks since it's not optimized for the masses yet, and post to their blogs about how Macs still suck.

    does anyone USE spotlight?

Same as other people...QS for launching Apps, Spotlight for finding files. It's really that simple. I can't remember the last time i navigated through all the folder hierarchies on Tiger. Seems antiquated now.

    OSX x86 leaked?

Yeah -- I'd like to know. And if they did supply a disk, which i could definitely see as a feasible thing to do since it's such an early release of the OS for x86 architecture, why wouldn't they go to some length to prevent it from being leaked? Do they really trust the 3800+ developers...

    OSX x86 leaked?

Ehh..whoever the developer that leaked this (if it's even true) is going to be in a whole lot of trouble soon... But, i find it quite interesting, if this is true, that why did Apple make it so easy for Tiger for x86 to be sent off somewhere, i mean, i'm guessing the OS came pre-installed on...

AOL / AIM offers now 2 GB email, free

With all these free services offer such large storage, i'm hoping Apple will bump up the .Mac account storage to at least 500 mb/1GB...no sign of that yet though :(

How Do You Open a .dmg.bz2 File (UT2004 Demo)?

You need to unstuff it with StuffIt Expander, then mount the resulting DMG file by simply double clicking on it.

AOL / AIM offers now 2 GB email, free

It would take A LOT for me to move from .Mac to anything else. I haven't gotten one piece of Spam mail in 8 months. I don't really care for the interface of AOL mail, but 2GB is 2GB, so it's pretty cool -- especially since it's free and i can use my AIM screen name.

    Mac to use Intel Chips!

I am excited about this. Although i fear the resale value of my Titanium PowerBook just dropped like an anvil out of a plane, i am excited to see how fast Tiger and Leopard feel on a Pentium chip. I'm also excited to see the day when then MacOS is more available to other users. I do NOT...

    AIM problems

I third that motion. Adium is most likely the best IM app you'll come across for MacOS X. If i had an iSight, i guess i'd fire up iChat AV every so often to use it.

    Noo-B Need help with D2:LOD on wifes G4 !

You'd need the native installer unless your wifes G4 has Classic installed. Blizzard did this with Starcraft, too. If you don't have classic, you probably need to: 1) download the native installer 2) then patch your version to the latest

    Mac to use Intel Chips!

I think Job's is very mad that IBM still hasn't hit the 3 GHz mark. I also think there's probably no way MacOS X will run on all x86 hardware -- Apple and Intel will probably make a propietary PPC chip. Maybe OS X would be faster on an Intel chip (not simply because of a higher clock speed)?

Does your 1.33 GHz 15" AluBook G4 have a Backlit Keyboard?

He has no SuperDrive. Thanks for the response.

Does your 1.33 GHz 15" AluBook G4 have a Backlit Keyboard?

My friend asked me if his powerbook (15", 1.33GHz, aluminum) is supposed to have come with a backlit keyboard. I wasn't sure, but his doesn't light up. Were these models supposed to ship with it standard? Or was this extra? (he bought his PB about 6 months ago)

Burn playable VIDEO_TS folders without Toast?

I have been using my uncle's dual G5 and Toast 6 to backup my DVD movies. However, I no longer have access to that machine, and therefore Toast. It is a pretty expensive program, and i really only used it to burn movies playable in my computer and most DVD players, so i can't really justify...

    "It Never Crashes" it does...

Well any blanket statement about anything should be taken with a grain of salt. But i have to say my PowerBook never once crashed in 2 years of having it, while in the same time period my parent's PC has crashed 2 times that i can remember -- not a big deal, but i use my powerbook seemingly...

Where is the brushed steel image in macOS?

And sometime's Apple uses it in places where it shouldn't (iChat, for example) as it doesn't conform to the HIG

Where is the brushed steel image in macOS?

If you want the brushed metal look, it's easier to do so in Interface Builder by selecting the "Has Texture" option on the main window's attributes.

    Mac 10.4.1 is up!!

I might have missed this earlier in the thread, but did you take it to an Apple retail center to see what they think?
