Requirements for Tiger are higher than for Panther. He's got a cube. Panther is cheaper.

Upgrade to Panther, to get Safari 1.3 I was a full fledged camino/firefox user for the past 1.5 years, but Safari 1.3 is blazing fast. Internet explorer...ugh...do yourself a favor and upgrade to Panther and trash IE ;) Safari 1.3 is outperforming many other browsers in benchmarks...

Resetting the NVRam fixed it

I woke up this morning to sadly find out that my superdrive seems completely, 100%, dead. It no longer makes that mechanical noise when rebooting, and when i try to insert any type of media, it never grabs a hold of it with whatever mechanism does it. It's like there's no power to it at all...

I don't understand why you would expect to just be handed the upgrade for free. Seems like you would have known that a Tiger release was imminent when you bought your Mac Mini two months ago...

Any Mac purchased on or after April 12th (the day Tiger's release date was officially announced) needs to only pay $10 for the upgrade to Tiger.

According to this benchmark comparing Tiger with 10.3.8, it seems that there isn't any significant increase in disk speed because of Tiger.

Safari 2 will not be available for anything but Tiger. When Tiger rolls out, Apple will also release a stripped down version of Safari 2.0, which will be Safari 1.3 and it will be for Panther and under.
