    Chimera 0.2.1

My god that's fast. I might have to ditch IE when they sort the bugs out. What's most noticibly missing is a way of making text bigger. Form elements look absolutely horrible, and now that they've made text smaller, I can't read some bits (see attachment). Also, spellchecking a la OmniWeb...

    iShake

That screen aliasing on the middle pic - hard to fake, I'd say they're real... Only thing I doubt, is would Apple realy name a son of Nothing Real's high end software with an 'i'? I doubt it, they tend to seperate their high end products like DVD studio pro from their free consumer 'i' line...

    Herve's Bar & Grill

Have you noticed that by clicking on the post count for this thread in the B&G forum, your get an eye-opening ranking of who's posted most in this thread? Apparantly, Ed leads with 247 (not bad) with the incomparable AdimralAK a massive 80 posts behind... (Bernie now at a pathetic 1) I think...

OS X Security Update (April 2002)

It shouldn't do, as long as you havn't recompiled apache. (and even then it may well still work) If you have the 4.1.2 version of PHP already installed, then no need for action. If not, then best to upgrade, because the new PHP fixes a really nasty hole that allows arbitary command execution...

What conclusions do you reach from avatars?

Really? I seriously was only guessing from the avatar (I havn't spent much time in the congrats threads or the B&G, so never found out about your living arrangements...) Now I agree more with you about the whole personal avatar thing Ed. Thats the good thing about personal avatars - by...

What conclusions do you reach from avatars?

Wow, this thread really took off (I just read the last two pages). Bluefusion - I like your new avatar... Lets see how many more avatar changes I/We can precipitate with comments like "Your avatar makes me think of dyslexic cult leaders who strangle small furry animals and brainwash...

    Mad dock trick!

Oh yeah - much. As far as I can tell the upper limit is the point where an icon gets so big that there's no room for the rest of the dock. That screenshot is reduced 50%, so the actual icons were huge. The scaling isn't as smooth at big sizes, but it is big... I should try it with a movie, to...

    Mad dock trick!

OK try this: (disclaimer - if you mess things up, don't blame me. always back up any system files you edit. Don't attempt this if you don't know what XML, backing-up and preferences are) Locate your preferences (Home > library > Preferences) folder, and back-up the file...

What conclusions do you reach from avatars?

Oh dear - so many missed out... Bluefusion, your avatar says: "Mission Statement: NewTek is the driving force pushing the edge of video and graphics technology while redefining price performance and ease of use. The NewTek team is insanely committed to providing the highest quality tools and...

What conclusions do you reach from avatars?

Well, z4ph0d I see you as a worker in a photographic laboratory, who one day was bitten by a radioactive spider and turned into [cue fanfare] *Negative Man™*! Then on reconstruction of your image in Photoshop (bastard – I had to boot classic for that ;o) I...

What conclusions do you reach from avatars?

Just wondering, on this board we all chat and interact as if we were in a room, but all we see (apart from in that notorious 'post a picture' thread) is our avatars. So that got me thinking – what conclusions do we draw from each other’s avatars? And even worse – what conclusions do people draw...

    OSX slows down over time

Cheers- I'll try that when I next shut down. When you ask if I've defragged recently, I was under the impression that fsck was a defrag tool? How do I defrag then (without shelling out for Norton Utils if possible)? Bernie :o)

    OSX slows down over time

I've heard them mentioned, but I'm not sure what they do. I tried typing fsck, and get no result, it just displays another command prompt. I also tried "man fsck", and didn't understand all the manual jargon. How do I use these commands? Bernie :o)

    OSX slows down over time

Hi guys, Not sure if anybody has noticed this, but over the time that I've had my G4 (DP 800), things have gotten slower. IE used to boot in a few seconds, now it's more like ten. The terminal used to pop up really fast on clicking it's dock icon, now it laggs. Most worrying, more...

The obligation of humankind to preserve nature

Yup, it sure does. If I was a Vietnamese at the time of the war, I would have fought to protect my country from the soldiers who were part of a different morality contract, and trying to kill my family. If I was an American at the time, I would have resisted the war from...

The obligation of humankind to preserve nature

The important difference between humans and other animals as I see it, is that even if a human has stepped outside society, they are capable of stepping back in, because they are human. A chicken is not capable of stepping into society, because it has no concept of...
