I had (sort of) the opposite problem. After installling Jag, my startup chime got deafeningly LOUD. Zapping the PRAM cured it. Maybe that would help with your loss of volume, too?

I'm not clear on exactly what you're doing. Are you trying to get your hotmail delivered to your Entourage? I think you now have to pay to get that. If you're trying to get hotmail on a non-Micro$oft email client, it'll never work. Bill Gates made sure of that! :mad:

Try this: In the Terminal, type "sudo rm" and then put a space. From the Finder drag the file and drop it on your Terminal window. It's "correct" name will show up, and hitting Enter should delete it (once you put in your password).

I wouldn't exactly call it "competiton" for Chimera. They are both projects of the mozdev folks, after all. Mozilla has the close-box for tabs, and I expect to see it implemented in Chimera before too long. Probably the other features will make it into Chim, too.

Using my Iomega CDRW, I have burned data CDs with Disk Copy, and music and data CDs with Toast. So far they have all turned out fine. I have heard of people having a lot of trouble with other brands of burners, though. :(

The ReadMe said something to the effect that they were so busy with a gazillion other bugs that they left speed for their next release. :rolleyes:

Another thing to try is using different brands of CD. Maybe your iMac can't deal with Memorex disks but likes Imations, or vice versa.

I think you should erase the partition and do a fresh installation of Jaguar, then. :(

It sounds like the installation did not get completed properly. First try running the "fsck -y" repair. If that doesn't help, you should probably reinstall Jaguar.

Are these blank disks? If they are, check your CDs & DVDs pref pane in System Preferences, and make sure Open FInder is selected for blank CDs. If they aren't blank, then it's a problem with the system reading them, not a driver issue.

Yes, I'm seeing that, too. Going to View > Text Zoom makes it look normal again, but it's a real PITA.
