G4 Sawtooth won't boot unless I hit the reset button by the battery on mobo

I agree, but I was thinking it could be a problem with the power supply not able to get it enough power to start. If I hit the CUDA button, it will start and run fine. Hopefully they'll get back to me with a replacement soon....

G4 Sawtooth won't boot unless I hit the reset button by the battery on mobo

Well, I plug in a 350Mhz and it works, just without the Pwrlgx cpu upgrade. I've tried to get in touch with there support but apparently they don't provide it on this model, I have to go through a 3rd party. Overall, not a good experience. Any possiblity that this could be the powersupply...

G4 Sawtooth won't boot unless I hit the reset button by the battery on mobo

I've tried the ram bit, and I've tried leaving it for various extended periods of time. The reset button I'm referring to is the one by the battery on the motherboard- still trying to figure this darn issue out! Thanks! Rowcroft

G4 Sawtooth won't boot unless I hit the reset button by the battery on mobo

That's my next step, but I installed the processor in a friends system that had a 350mhz proc (mine was 450). I'll see if I can't get the 350 from him and try that. Do you think it could be the processor? It was running fine for about a month. Thanks! Rowcroft

G4 Sawtooth won't boot unless I hit the reset button by the battery on mobo

For some reason my G4 Sawtooth won't boot unless I hit the reset button first. I've tried a new battery, hard drive, video card, ram, resetting the PRAM, unplugging everythign. Nothing will work- The only thing I haven't been able to test is the CPU, I have a PowerLogix CPU upgrade installed...

    10.2 locks on start-up

Luckily, this workstation didn't have anything critical on it, I've been playing with it and now that I have 10.2 I'm getting it ready for another worker and ordering a dual 867 system- that is, if I can get this system up and running successfully!

    10.2 locks on start-up

Thanks for the tips, I went ahead and booted to the 10.2 cd and wiped the hard drive of two partitions (one OS 9 and one OS X) and made one large partition that I am installing OS X.2 on right now. We'll see how it goes. This is my first foray into Apple's in 6 years, been a Solaris and...

    10.2 locks on start-up

Well, I zapped the PRAM and heard four tones. Let go and the system booted to a grey screen with a stuck cursor in the upper left hand corner. Now what? Thanks, Eric Rowcroft

    10.2 locks on start-up

I have installed 10.2 and it was working great through 3 or 4 reboots, and then I rebooted a minute ago and it comes up with the grey screen and apple logo but after a minute there is garble horizontally through the middle of the screen and it locks up. Any ideas? Here's the system: G4 450...

Will OSX ever be as fast as XP?

A lot of the speed differences could be related to hardware, not the OS. If you are running a laptop, hard drive speed is a big factor. If it's the original hdd for the pbook, it's 4200rpm, the PC is most likely a 7200rpm but at least a 5400rpm if it is a tower (I am assuming it is). Also...
