That's cool. Thanks! I'll give it to him.

iChat: Video Chat with someone who does not have iSight?

I'm going to have to take a look at the MacBook when I see him next, in that case, because he can't even send me an invite for a video chat. I've been wanting an iSight camera...this might be an excuse to drop $100 on one and test things out.

iChat: Video Chat with someone who does not have iSight?

I have an iBook with no iSight camera. My friend has a MacBook with a built-in iSight. He wants to initiate a video chat with me, so that I can see his video. Obviously, he won't see video coming from my end, but that's fine. He was just wanting to test things out. Is this possible? When he...

looking for advise from Mac users.

I'll say this about the Mac OS, with regard to networking, in general. It's the simplest operating system I've ever used, in that regard. I've had more trouble (though not much) with getting Windows PCs to talk to each other than I have with getting my Mac and Windows PCs to talk. Setup with...

iTunes 7: TV Shows Missing from iPod?

iPod restore seems to have fixed the following issues that I noticed after I upgraded to iTunes 7. 1. "TV Shows" group did not show up under "Videos" 2. Certain video playlists do not show up under "Videos -> Video Playlists" Both issues are fixed now, and it appears that the restore was...

iTunes 7: TV Shows Missing from iPod?

I am in the process of doing a restore on the iPod right now to see if it corrects the problem. I'll report back with the results.

iTunes 7: TV Shows Missing from iPod?

Am I the only one who sees this? I have video playlists that contain TV shows, many of which were downloaded from the iTunes Store. Some of the playlists do not appear on my iPod. I just upgraded iTunes to version 7.0.1, hoping this would be solved, but it hasn't been corrected. Also, when I...

    CAD Program

TurboCAD is available for the Mac. I was under the impression that there were no CAD programs available, until I saw an ad for this one. I've never needed a CAD app, so I never did any research.

iTunes 7 changes where movies, TV shows are stored

I've read that you can have multiple libraries now (something I'm really happy about), but how does it work? Is there information somewhere on it, and am I now running two libraries on my Mac? If that's the case, I can't understand why, when I already had one. Should it not have just used that one?

iTunes 7 changes where movies, TV shows are stored

Has anyone else noticed that iTunes 7 changes the locations of movies and TV shows when new ones are added? The existing files stay where they were, but new ones that are added AFTER the iTunes 7 upgrade go into new folders. Movies: Old: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/[artist]/[file name] New...

Should I buy backup 3 and become member of .mac?

I would not buy a .Mac membership just to get Backup 3. If you wanted something that did incremental backups, SuperDuper is a better investment. You can clone your whole drive to another drive, and boot from it, if necessary. There is also Cabon Copy Cloner (free), which is free, but I don't...

    DVD player

You can do this with AppleScript. I just took a look at the AppleScript library for DVD player, and it has a "play bookmark" and "play named bookmark" available. Launch Script Editor and check out the library for DVD Player (Window -> Library). You'll find the commands I listed above in there.

    Customizing Mac Interfaces...

ThemeChanger is open source, and, instead of working like ShapeShifer does (intercepting things and changing the interface as you go, which takes up resources), it actually replaces the necessary files on the system, and allows you to go back to the originals, if you want. However, I've been...

    Can Apple get a Virus?

I think you can be fairly certain that Apple will take care of the bad hard drive for you. What you are hearing from everyone is preemptive, more than anything else. People tend to come in here from time to time and scream and yell that Apple sucks when something fails (not you, but others). I...

    LaCie FireWire drive failed...need help

Figuring that there was nothing that I could do about the two games I just bought on iTunes, I decided to plug my iPod into my iBook and see what happened. iTunes launched, and presented me with a message telling me that the iPod has purchased items that were not in my library (the backup...

    LaCie FireWire drive failed...need help

My LaCie mobile firewire drive just failed, apparently. It was working one minute, and then iTunes locked up (I keep my library on the drive). I restarted my iBook, and the drive would no longer mount. I can see the drive itself in Disk Utility, but the single volume on it will not mount. I ran...

Tweaks/Tips to Increase iBook G4 Speed?

With regard to buying additional RAM, I'd have luck with RamSeeker.com for iBook RAM. Cheapest prices I've found. If someone knows of a cheaper list of vendors, please post it.

    Mac Pro - 2.66GHz vs. 3GHz - What can I expect?

That's interesting... Do you think this is likely a software issue, or hardware based? I'm thinking Apple will correct it, eventually, if it is software-based, but hardware issues are more of a problem, and Apple would have to recall and repair.

    Mac Pro - 2.66GHz vs. 3GHz - What can I expect?

That's good news. Thanks. As far as the external drives, I have a few of them, two LaCie FireWire drives, and a USB drive. I'm only concerned about eh LaCia drives, but I'm sure that if LaCie drives we affected, we'd have heard something by now. Do you have more information (links, etc.)...

    Mac Pro - 2.66GHz vs. 3GHz - What can I expect?

Thanks for the info, Bob. I'm reading through the Benchmarks now. So far, it seems that, for my purposes, the 2.66GHz model, loaded with more RAM, will fit nicely, and save me several hundred dollars. I forgot to mention that I do use Photoshop extensively, but not for terribly intensive work...
