    Vector based software question

Freehand is dead, and it pretty much was before Adobe purchased it (again). Adobe will not be updating it. Not only because they don't want to, but they can't (because they would have a monopoly, and the SEC doesn't like that very much). They will either stop development all together or sell it...

    text in InDesign

Along with what Natobasso said, make sure if it's the last line of a paragraph causing you grief, that there is no extra spaces after the last character that may have different size & leading settings.

InDesign CS2 text frame fire + brimstone

That's so lame Akkarin, why not just help the guy out instead of shilling for your Web site?!!! Anyway, the solution is simple, though I'm not clear why they do it this way. I'll start from the beginning. 1. Create a multi-page document. 2. Go to master pages and draw the text box on the...

How to do a word count in inDesign

Word Count should do the trick.

How do I combine a "linked image" and a "clipping path" into one shape?

You could just click on the M shape line with the white arrow tool. Hit command Y to make it easier to see.

Illustrator CS, Tiger & Printing to PDF

Hell, if you have multiple pages in Illustrator I would be happy with that... especially since Illustrator doesn't support multiple pages.

why is mac best for graphic design?

The really simple answer to this is that 90% of the ad agencies and design firms in the world use Macs... so that's what you're going to use at work. For that reason, most design-related software is made for the Mac first, or simply isn't available on a PC at all. It's really that simple. As...

    Illustrator Cs

Log in as the Root user and install from there. Or use the Sudo command in the terminal to do it if you feel comfortable doing that.

    InDesign CS: text frames

You can't prevent it from happening, but you can change it back to "unassigned" easily by going to the Object/Content menu and selecting unassigned (or graphic).

    Os X_fonts

OSX 10.4 = Font's: The ones from the System at the top that do NOT have a language next to them (Geneva, Monaco, etc...) Basically any font in your main System/Font folder other than the foreign language fonts are required by either the System or some Apple-installed apps.

    Browser Re-Direction Problem

Did you check to see if MyFamily was somehow set as the start page? I guarantee you this is NOT a virus, but I can't imagine what would cause this to happen in 3 different browsers. Also try deleting ~/Library/Cookies

    Safari and Firefox Problems

What would that do? RealPlayer, or any other extension for Firefox, has nothing to do with mouse speed.

Preview problem since upgrading to 10.3.9

I'm sorry to say that I don't have a fix for you. But I will say that in the future, you should avoid installing Apple's OS "updates" – The major OS "upgrades" like Jaguar, Panther and Tiger usually work fine, but these cruddy little "bug fix updates" cause more problems than they fix in nearly...

Mac OS X 10.3.9 Update: Top or Flop?

With Tiger so close, I saw no reason at all to run this update… especially considering Apple's horrible track record with these minor updates!

    Spring-Loaded Folders

They should work just fine... it's a "SYSTEM" feature, so it doesn't matter where the folder resides. If it works on one drive, it should work on any other drive, CD or DVD.

    Indesign can't remember

Hmmmm.... sounded like the file was being saved as a template instead of a document, which would give you the exact same results.

    Font issues in Photoshop CS

I used FontBook for several months with no problems whatsoever, other than it is incredibly slow to start and use. Eventually, I went back to using Suitcase X1... it's just a much cleaner, easier, faster solution. Over the years I've been willing to try anything for font management, but I...

You could try GraphicConverter, which has a thumbnail generation feature.

    G4 optimized Firefox

I tried it on an old G4 I have laying around, and noticed a *slight* difference, but not enough to make it worth messing with. Just my 2 cents.
