    Tiger Upgrade - Appleworks?

I don't understand why it didn't work for me then. That's weird. I copied it over an ethernet connection. Perhaps data was corrupted during the transfer and that is why it failed for me.

    Tiger Upgrade - Appleworks?

You can't copy your appleworks 6 folder to a usb drive/CD-RW/External HD and then copy it to another computer (or even back to the same after it has had it's HD blanked and then MacOSX restored). Appleworks 6 must be installed via the installer. I tried to copy an appleworks 6 folder to...

    G5 Imac woes

The G5 iMac is known for having over a 20% failure rate. Unfortunately, Apple won't give you a new one until you've had it repaired 4 times or so. They really are resistant to giving out new computers. This one sounds like another lemon to me. How much RAM is in the machine already? If you...

    Computer keeps crashing

I have read in the past that the Blue and White G3 PowerMac's and several of the G4 PowerMac's had problems with their Hard drive IDE bus after being used for several years. One thing you can try, is moving the hard drive to the same bus as the optical drive. This will require setting...

    restoration?

Unlike WinMe and WinXP, OSX doesn't have a built-in rollback function which can take the OS back to a point in time. You will have to find another solution.

    Best volume adjuster for iTunes/iPod

I really hate having to lower and raise the volume between songs in iTunes and on my iPod. I need to find the best application that will go through my iTunes library and adjust each song's individual volume setting, so all the songs are roughly the same volume. Can anyone recommend an...

    iBook Logic Board failure statistics?

Anyone have any information on what percentage of "logic board repair program" eligible iBooks failed, grouped by iBook model? I'm curious which iBooks fail the most and how long it generally takes them to fail. I'd guess if the program only lasts 3 years from when an eligible iBook was...

    Dictionary

The dictionary application is in the widgets. You have to click the widget icon on your dock and then it should come up on the screen. If it isn't there, click the circle with the plus sign on the bottom left while in the widget screen and you should see a bar with all possible widgets on your...

    WoW running real slow.

Your video card and system RAM are going to be the bottlenecks you can actually change. If you have 256MB of system RAM, then that is quite low. I'd recommend at least 512MB RAM (and so does Blizzard). 768MB-1GB is best. Blizzard requires a video card with at least 32MB video RAM. However...

    Ehternetcard to an old 8600/300

I don't know what kind of ethernet card goes in there, but I have a Apple Inc. Ethernet LC Twisted-Pair card (circa 1993-1994) which worked fine in my old Performa 475. Anyone know if it works in a 8600?

Ibook W/os9 Plays Audio Cd, But Not Data Cd

My iBook G3/300 (Rev B - M7718LL/A) can mount Music CD's and play them without a problem. However, when I put a data CD (Mac OS9 or Mac OSX or what have you) in, a box comes up saying it cannot read it and asks if I want to format or eject it. When I restart and hold down C to boot off the...

    Remove partial OSX install

I attempted to install OSX on my iBook which is running OS 9.2.2 and it failed one CD in. I don't want to restart, continue or in any way try to get OSX on there any more. I also absolutely cannot blank the drive and reinstall OS 9. I want to remove all the files and folders which are related...

    Replacement CDROM for Clam iBook?

Since the original, non-firewire clamshell iBooks are almost worthless without a CDROM drive, I am getting ready to disassemble mine and replace its' bad optical drive. I need to get a replacement optical drive first though. The original equipment is a Matshita CR-175 CDROM drive. Since I...

    Wireless Between Apple And Dell

I don't understand why your Dell is physically connected to the router in the first place if it is wireless. The modem should be connect to the router and the router connected to nothing else physically. The Dell and the Apple should wirelessly connect to the router. I have a similar setup...

Install Mac OSX without internal CD drive?

This does not have firwire. Does that pretty much mean an iBook such as this is stuck with whatever OS happens to be on it?

Install Mac OSX without internal CD drive?

Is it possible to install Mac OSX on a G3/300 iBook (Rev B - Tangerine clamshell) when its internal CD-ROM drive is shot? I have a PM G5 Dual (with Tiger on it) and an external USB Hard drive. I don't know if I can connect the USB hard drive to the USB port on the iBook and boot off the...

    install second hard drive

You probably have an SATA drive in there now (IDE is no longer used). Just make sure you have a PM with an SATA hard drive. If so, make sure to buy an SATA hard drive to add.

    iBook won't boot

It's not that the iBook is doomed, it's just that your hard drive is dead. FSCK could have helped if the drive's data or structure needed to be repaired, but it sounds like your drive itself has gone bad. You simply need to have the hard drive replaced. Hopefully that will fix your problem...

usb flash/pen drive does not mount

I actually had my old Jumpdrive screwed up when I took it between a Mac and PC. Don't know what caused it, but I just used the disk utility in MacOS X to reformat it and from then on it was fine on both machines.
