ATA HD from 2003 MDD - how to retrieve data to G5

True True True - how could I call my MacPro's G5's. It's been raining so much this spring, my brain is going mushy! Sweet on the 2008. It's sitting right here - I'll have a look. Once again, DeltaMac comes through!

ATA HD from 2003 MDD - how to retrieve data to G5

Hey all - I have a 2003 G4 MDD that I am planning to sell, probably as a parts machine. We had a power issue as a result of an electrical problem with my laser printer that I'm guessing fried the power supply on the MDD. I now have G5's (2008 and 2012). How can I or how do I go about retrieving...

Where does Sierra store Custom printer settings

Update : You know what I like most about this forum, besides the help and knowledge I've received over the years, is the MAGICAL aspect. Almost Unicorn Magical. While waiting for a reply, I did some digging and testing some plist files in the Preference folder and found the page setup files...

Where does Sierra store Custom printer settings

Hey all - After switching from El Capitan to Sierra, I need to copy my custom paper and sheet size settings for my HP Z3200ps plotter. Both systems are on separate drives and I need to bring the sheet size and different paper settings into Sierra. There are so many places to look in the Library...

Upgrade (?) from El Capitan to Sierra

Just found it myself - the checkbox at the bottom of the get info window - "Ignore ownership on this volume" Easy peasy

Upgrade (?) from El Capitan to Sierra

One more thing - I am now using 2 startup drives. One for El Cap, one for Sierra. Once I'm totally comfortable with Sierra, I'll stay as that as my main OS. I have 4 drives total, one in each bay. How can I save to any of the drives without having a permissions conflict? Should I just make...

Upgrade (?) from El Capitan to Sierra

It’s just something I was curious about. My iMessage isn’t working on El Capitan but does on Sierra. Syncing iCloud to all devices was a major PIA on El Cap but synced right up on Sierra. It was more of a “why” than an “if”.

Upgrade (?) from El Capitan to Sierra

I probably know the answer to this already but is there a way to use the quick user switch from a user on El Capitan and quick switch to a user on SIerra. My money is on no but that'd be pretty neat if it worked.

Thanks DeltaMac. Come to find out it won’t install on my 2008 but is downloading to my 2013.

Upgrade (?) from El Capitan to Sierra

I think I'd like to try the upgrade from El Capitan to Sierra. I can't go all the way to High Sierra without Sierra first, correct? I want to install on one hard drive and be able to pull the drive out if I want to keep El Capitan. Cheryl - you gave me a download link before to get a clean ISO...

Restore old app from previous itunes Backup

Hey all - I have my iPhone 8+ that updated an app that is horrible compared to the previous version. I have the previous version on an iTunes backup on my Mac El Capitan 10.11.6 but apparently iTunes cannot restore a single application anymore. I have iTunes 12.7 on Mac and IOS 12.1 on my...

Connecting iPhone 8 Plus with 2008 Mac pro desk top

I am trying to pair my iPhone 8 Plus with my 2008 Mac pro desk top. The Mac says that it has Bluetooth but it is not pairing. Is this just something that Apple never considered doing?

Mac Pro 2008 El Capitan Kernel Loop

The Mac is 10 years old, full program support isn't an option. I have been on Macs since the Macintosh Plus in 1986 and can most of the time troubleshoot what's going on. This one threw me for a loop. Once I sent the panic report to Apple support, they pointed me in the proper direction and all...

Mac Pro 2008 El Capitan Kernel Loop

Graphics card did it. What a long haul! I shoulda sent the crash report to Apple in the beginning. They told me in 10 minutes it was the graphics card. Lessons learned.

Mac Pro 2008 El Capitan Kernel Loop

Hey, I had a 50-50 shot, just I took the wrong 50. Posted the panic report to Apple (my wife may shoot me for not doing that earlier) and the report points to the NVIDIA graphics card.
