I'm no expert, but i would wait till after the transition. i don't know if you remember or not, but the "second transition" from 9.2.2 to 10.0 was very buggy and 10 didn't run as smoothly as 10.4 does today.

Now that i have cooled down a bit after reading this thread, my concern is: What will _I_ do when devs stop checking the PPC box when they compile? It will be like having 10.1 and being forced to upgrade to 10.3 or 10.4 because you can't get any new apps. and this time, instead of being a $75...

(sorry to go back in the conversation) In the mid/late 90's, Apple was on the edge of death but MS made a deal with apple and gave them money to stay in business. I think one of the terms in the contract was that IE had to be the default browser under OS 9

chances are very slim that apple and Microsoft will ever become one or be duel bootible. Microsoft needs apple to stay alive so it doesn't become a monopoly and there will always be a difference in apps for one and apps in another. your best bet (if you are sick and tired of having to go back...
