In 10.2.6, I just tried this and it worked. zip filename.zip myfile where filename.zip is the zip file created and myfile is the file to be zipped. Don't forget to enter the full pathname of the files. Also, typing zip by itself displays info on how to use the zip command.

Speculation at this point, just wondering if the aliases at the top of Finder windows in Jag are being replaced by this 'sidebar' thing. No sooner do I become accustomed to a feature than they go and move it around on me!!

OK, if I run xmms from an xterm it works, but if I select xmms from the X11 menu it complains about the sound driver. I *really* don't remember this being a problem! Oh well, it works.

All of a sudden, XMMS stopped working. It keeps giving me the error message: Couldn't open audio. Please check that you have the correct output plugin selected, etc... I have the same eSound Output Plugin 1.2.7 that I've always had. Any ideas?

MiP is ok in WindowShade, not as clean looking as the Apple implementation. Also, it would be nice to be able to set the 'pin' point, that is, to determine the point within the expanded window where it will mimize to, e.g. top-left, top-center, top-right, window center, etc. Good to see...

Just wanted to confirm, can KDE and Gnome co-exist peacefully using X11 and Fink? Also, I've got KDE installed and just want to compare it to Gnome. I'm not sure which Gnome package to install. Any clues?

I played a hunch, and deleted ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache Problem solved, now one UA pref icon under System where it belongs. I love solving this stuff for myself once in awhile!!

There's just one in /System/Library/PreferencePanes/UniversalAccessPref.prefPane Pretty strange. Maybe a preference file somewhere?

I just noticed that the Universal Access pref pane is listed under System AND under Other. Any idea how to correct this?

OK, I think I found the problem. I had the User directory from another machine mounted on my desktop, which has the same name as the .dmg I mounted. This confuses Excel. If I disconnect the mounted volume it works fine. It seems that if the .dmg is mounted before the Connected volume Excel...

On Sunday I re-built my 1GHz TiBook, backing up and re-installing everything. It went quite smoothly, and is running faster as a result. One problem has surfaced. Before the re-install, I was able to open a password protected .dmg file and launch and edit an Excel document I keep there. Now...

I deleted this folder yesterday via Terminal, and so far it has not re-appeared. We'll see if it sticks.

About 3 weeks ago and again tonight, my 1GHz TiBook dropped to a strange shutdown/sleep mode. Everything was working fine, then *poof* the screen went black, power was plugged in but unlit, the sleep light was pulsing but the machine would not wake, power button did nothing. Got it installed and it works just fine, with X Forwarding to boot. Now, how do I get the KDE "taskbar" if that's what it's called, to appear? I've found all kinds of options for it, but (seemingly) no way to turn it on. Thanks!
