Hello I'm Howard And I'm A Everquest Addict

Hey Guys and Gals, I'm addicted. I bought it a month ago. I feel wierd if I let a day go by and don't get at least an hour on the box playing it. The graphics aren't even the best in the world. Just wierd I tell you. I guess I have several strategy questions on the game for this post...

QUAD G4 Apple Server Platform for Enterprise

I heard a Rumor that Apple was going to produce a full scale Enterprise solution for OSX Server and that it was going to have four G4s and still cost under $10k killing the Compaq and IBM product offerings in this market and probably putting the nail in the heart of Sun. Any body else out...

Os 9 Ftp Server, File Server, Etc.

Just to follow up on this thread. I love the services that this provides! I'm a happy man and like so many other things that are Apple you don't have to spend $10,000 just to say that you're certified to operate it. I installed it flawlessly. I operates and works flawlessly. It's...

9.2.2 , AppleTalk, and Midi on an OSX LAN

Hmm, I concure with your perception that Appletalk has to be on for network communications to work if you're only using the APPLETALK protocol. That being said however, sounds like you're using TCP/IP like the rest of the world and that might be the issue even if Appletalk is off. One...

PM9600, what's the white slot for between the memory slots?

Just thinking about it makes my head hurt... I was also aware that Orange Micro made a Pentium card that went somewhere in the Mac. Was it a special card slot like where the A/V Audio Card fits into the 9600? The SIMM ROM. What would such an item be used for? Is that like a BIOS on the PC...

Largest Hard Drive Capasity On 9600?

Does anyone know where I can find this information out. Is there a chart on the web that shows what hard drives these older Macs will show? I have SCSI on my 9600 and this 4GB drive is definately not going to work.

Year and Time out of whack on Boot

Hey All, The thought occured to me as I was venturing into upgrade territory on this little white slot, that Apple a while back made those PC cards that went into the computer...I think that Orange Micro still does. Is that slot for those PC cards?

Os 9 Ftp Server, File Server, Etc.

FTP was part of my criteria and more importantly I wanted it to play nicely with my three Windows Machines running XP, 2000, and 98. I'm a programmer and a Music guy and all these machines playing nice together seems like a tease. We'll see and I'll report on how they really work together.

Os 9 Ftp Server, File Server, Etc.

I've located a version of a program called Appleshare IP which will do the trick very nicely. I'll post some configuration issues that I have with it as well so that the forum can benefit. Version 6.3 worked well with OS 9.1

Just in case anybody is looking. Some of these Macs are getting old and I found a dealer on the web. http://order.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/wg-order?unique=1245a&catalog=macbattery&et=3f912b62&basket=5Cd2e188d800b3223f9124364187780e188d806f2a71853c0f45f6ab55252cced Good luck to anyone else...

PM9600, what's the white slot for between the memory slots?

I'm confident that its not a PCI slot or AGP. I was unsure about other technologies. I know that some MOBO companies put their proprietary expansion slots on there for things like internal Modems, NICs, etc. I was unsure if Apple had done the same. BTW, I'm in love with this PowerMac. It's...

Year and Time out of whack on Boot

Hey Guys, I think that my battery is dead on my Mac 9600 and 9650 Workgroup servers. Both of them give me an error message saying that network timing is off and that I should reset the date and time so that some programs will work appropriately. I've had this problem with an older PC before...

    Msn

I've been pondering the same things. I have a mixed environment on my network and would like to be able to monitor the kids in the backyard with my little quickcam from Logitech. The only problem I'm having is that I've got Os9, Win98, Win2000, WinXP, and OS X on my network computers. What would...

Oh, I almost forgot. I've tried Yellow Dog Linux on no more than two occasions and don't like it. I promise I didn't inhale and its use was only experimental. Any other suggestions (don't say SUSE or any other flavor of Linux please?)
