    Apple Cinema Display 23" question

I currently own the Cinema Display HD, and it is rediculously big. It has also saved my vision. Go ahead and get one, it is quite a spectacle. -Brad

A headphone to RCA adaptor should do the trick, probably at your local Radio Shack for 5 bucks. -Brad

Apple 23'' HD Display and PC Compatability

I recently purchased an Apple 23'' HD Display and I was wondering if I could use Apple's DVI to ADC converter with my PC that has a video card with a DVI port (GeForce 2mx). I have heard that it works - but it seems Apple only officially supports connections to other Macs only. Thanks...

    Microsoft planning on tracking EVERYONE!

While it is true that mobile phone operators have a general location, it would be nearly impossible to find exactly where you are - much less distinguising a specific cell user within a crowded/populated area. As an example, when the World Trace Center fell, and people were still left inside...

    iApp Improvements?

Quicktime Broadcaster seems like a perfectly capable application for streaming MP3s and other media formats - it's fairly easy to use, stable, and not a huge resource hog. You mention iDVD, so I'll remind you that you can create a collage of photos and burn them to a DVD. I agree, however...

Thanks, I killed the process - but I can't figure out what that program is either - and I'm sure I haven't installed anything recently. Hmm...the mystery continues... -Brad

    Next iApp?

Don't quote me on this, but I read something somewhere that said that iChat would have Video Conferencing with Netmeeting compatibility. As of now, I don't see any Video Conferencing options in iChat -but I know there's a comprehensive plan on the horizon. -Brad

    Qtss

Ok, I'm having trouble with the Quicktime Streaming Server, and I'm not quite sure what to do. For some reason that I can't explain - the server automatically starts up when I boot, even though I unchecked the 'start up at boot' box. When I turn the server off and use the 'top' command in the...

    Qt6 Public Preview

You can use your QT5 Pro Key for QT6 Beta - but once QT Final comes out, you'll most likely need a new key. Brad

    Some advice about backup hardware...

Ok - I'm assuming you need one 30gb for all of the computers. With that, I'd say a SmartDisk Firewire drive, 80gb @ 299.95USD, is a fast and reliable solution. If you need 30gb PER computer, I'd say 5x27gb SmartDisks @ 149.95USD/per unit, 749.75USD total - with 2xFireWire IEEE1394A PCI cards...

    Qt6 Public Preview

Yes, I'm using 10.2, Final Cut Pro 3, and Quicktime 6 - you can encode in MPEG-4 audio and video. Most options comply with the ISMA standards - you can adjust frame rate, bitrate, and overall quality. I'll post a screenshot later - I'm batch exporting to MPEG-4 now :) -- ohhhh the compression...

    Apple observations and opinions

"The strongest example I have seen so far is the Watson-esque features planned for Sherlock 3. An act like this on Microsoft's part would be reviled, however on Apple's it is tolerated, even by me. No, I can't explain it either." Actually, Apple's Sherlock (and subsequent capabilities) came...

To those who run Jaquar and these apps....

Actually, FCP 3 is more crash-prone. Also, the timeline video (not slug) is pretty messed up - dropped frames, odd colors, etc. I'm guessing this has something to do with the video framework. I run a 733 Digital Audio G4 w/ a GeForce 2MX. On a plus, you can now export to MPEG-4 and play it...
