How to save an image enlarged?

ToyViewer is Free and should do what you need. You can read about it's feature set in the online manual here and I have a page on my site about an earlier version here. And this image should give you an idea of some of the tools that ToyViewer provides.

Text looks different in "Mail" and "TextEdit." Why??

Bottom right hand corner of the document (in wrap to page mode). I'm writing this in 10.2... but I'll take a look at 10.3 and 10.4, to see if I can recreate the issue with that font. Both of those apps use Apples Text Services so they should appear the same on screen. The fact that they don't...

Text looks different in "Mail" and "TextEdit." Why??

It would be helpful to know both OS and hardware... Apple was experiencing issues with font handling in 10.4.x on Intel hardware as I recall. Also, is TextEdit displaying at 100%?

Vector graphics software for OS X?

I use Create for all my illustrations... it was the first vector drawing app for Mac OS X.

    Fav "old" apple computers

I remember when that model came out. It was hard to find as people were buying them as fast as Apple could make them. My favorite series would be the PowerBook Duos. I've owned the 230, 270c, 280, 280c and 2300c (I still have both the 280 and 2300c). Even though I still use my Duo 2300c...

    Golive - Dreamweaver. What's happening?

Sounds like you are looking for an argument with that statement. And I'm more than happy to oblige. The only stubbornness here is the fact that the "writing on the wall" hasn't always played out the way Adobe outsiders have predicted. I've followed Adobe long enough (and have a very clear...

    Golive - Dreamweaver. What's happening?

FUD is the spread of Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. It is usually done by holding up false or erroneous reports to make people believe something that isn't true. You pointed to an erroneous report and said "Adobe is dropping GoLive and Freehand". Speculate all you want, but you were trying...

    Golive - Dreamweaver. What's happening?

No opinion needed.. there is no real information about GoLive. Period. Your "A-ha! I found the answer" article was based on at least fifth hand (most likely translated twice) bad information. You can speculate to your hearts content, but it falls into the realm of FUD. Try reading the link...

    Golive - Dreamweaver. What's happening?

Then you found the wrong answer... as that was one of the erroneous reports. I thought this article was an interesting report on how misinformation gets around. I think we can drop the FUD here guys. There are no real reports of Adobe dropping GoLive and Freehand. And as I said before, the...

    Golive - Dreamweaver. What's happening?

Oddly enough the thing that started all this was a French report about Freehand... and everyone read GoLive into that report even though no one at Adobe had said anything about it. People say they know that Adobe is dropping GoLive obviously don't know Adobe very well. Adobe originally...

    Creating links in PDF

Adobe Acrobat doesn't run in Mac OS 9... hasn't since version 5. Acrobat 5.0.5 was the last version for Mac OS 9, 5.0.10 and later require Mac OS X. Adobe only has Acrobat 7 available for download. Downloading it from anywhere else (to get a version you do not own) is both illegal and against...

G3 vs G4 Interface performance in Tiger

There is a number of things that can effect the interface of Mac OS X. As has been pointed out, RAM always helps (on any system). If you are using an iBook G3/600 with 10.4 I would highly suggest upgrading to the max for that system (640 MB). As for the desktop system and what effects Mac...

wireless cards for PM G4 400

I've had pretty good luck with Sonnet's wireless card... you'll need to get 10.2 or later for your system though (you should do that anyways as very little software still runs on 10.1). Nice price for that G4. I haven't seen any going for that low here in the US. I have a number of clients...

is there something similar to Cocoa in Windows?

Well, as has been pointed out NeXT/Sun ported the NEXTSTEP APIs to Windows NT (and Solaris) in the form of OpenStep Enterprise. NeXT/Sun also made the OpenStep Specifications open for anyone to use... which has led to the GNUstep project. Apple was planning on providing an application...

    G3 powerbook upgrade to 10.2 or 10.3?

I strongly disagree with that statement... Firstly, two of my four Mac OS X systems are running Mac OS X 10.2.8 and are great systems. In a lot of ways 10.2 is better than 10.3 and later (I still use 10.2 more than 10.3 or 10.4). There is nothing realistic about suggesting 10.3 as a minimum...

    G3 powerbook upgrade to 10.2 or 10.3?

The highest supported operating system for that system is 10.2.8. You have 32 MB of RAM... so at this point you are not going to be running any version of Mac OS X (and really 32 MB isn't enough to run Mac OS 9 very well either). That system can be upgraded to 512 MB of RAM (which is what...

    Font in Toolbar

For some one new to using Macs, this type of change is usually the first step on the road to reinstalling the OS. I highly suggest that you learn the OS before attempting to make changes.

    Virus? December 31st, 1969

Odd that no one has yet brought this up... all Unix based systems (not just Macs) reset their clocks to 1969 if their internal battery dies. This is because the very first Unix (UNICS) system was made in 1969. So it isn't that odd a choice of dates as their wasn't a Unix before that date...
