Oracle 9i for OSX woo hoo

I had almost given up hope - just in time as well. I am working on a DB driven email app that OSX is perfect for. Oracle will be great as the database. R.

Good UK ISP for OS X?

I personally use NTL cablemodem. Whilst they do not support OSX, they do allow me to use it - I am just on my own. However I know enough about IP to know when the problem is mine or theirs. However I have very few problems with them. Otherwise, for dial-up try this one: http://adial.co.uk/...

UK (online) apple store and Switch Cards!...

Cancom accept switch cards, online, so I presume that they also do offline: Cancom web site I use these guys over Apple because I find the service great and they have a local shop where I can pick up my orders (Cambridge). The web site is a little slow, so I tend to phone my orders in...

British Mac user sues Apple for .Mac?

I agree under contract law. The only hope he has is that small claims is an arbitration and may not follow the letter of the law 100%. Possibly he could argue that it the ad was a representation that he relied upon in purchasing the computer, and so he could after the tort of misrepresentation...

    Jaguar SCANNER support!

I have never understood why Apple sells certain brands of scanners on their web site that are not supported by OSX. It is very frustrating to the end user to purchase a product supposedly endorced by Apple to find that it doesn't even work properly with the computer. R.

i may get deported for this, but "Come on Germany!"

it is called socker because you wear socks on your feet. :D Association football was invented in the UK. In fact, it was invented in Cambridge (where I live). However the rules were a little different then. The main difference between the association of cambridge schools football (hence...

    South Korea 2 - 1 Italy

The S. Koreans did play better than the Italians towards the end of the match. They are the fittest side in the world cup. They deserved to win. The penalty was a penalty (in fact two fouls were committed at the same time). The difference between the shirt pulling in one instance and the other...

    Making a Start

However it should be noted that larger companies tend to have quite good training programmes and will look better on your resume. When you are starting out it is better if you can get into good standards early on, and whilst larger companies may not be better than all smaller companies, they do...

Why is Java STILL bad in OSX?

I find java apps extremely slow on OSX though. I use ArgoUML and Poseidon for UML and whilst these apps run extremely well on Win32 OSes, they run too slowly for use on OSX. Functionally they are fine, it is just the speed. R.

WORLD CUP NEWS: The U.S. beats.... Mexico?!?

Yup - Brasil were very, very lucky. Belgium had a disallowed goal that was very close to the mark. Belgium controlled the pace of the game and had more chances. However Brasil wore down Belgium and did what was necessary. Friday will be a good game - got the day off for that one. R.

WindowShade functionality is BACK in Jaguar (not what you think, though)...

That is functionality that I will use. My dock will stay as somewhere I launch applications from and my desktop will be my current work. Nice. R.

WORLD CUP NEWS: The U.S. beats.... Mexico?!?

That is a great result for the US. Mexico really impressed me in their previous matches and are a great scalp. What a world cup this is turning out to be. I am looking forward to watching Brasil and Belgium today - see who we shall meet in the next round. R.

    10.1.5 pain in the neck!

Locations may help you release IP leases - it would be a bit of a hole in the functionality if it didn't. Otherwise there has been threads regarding releasing DHCP leases elsewhere here somewhere - usually in regard to ghost computers appearing in local network browser - may be worth a...

    10.1.5 pain in the neck!

That makes sense. I use airport and have no problems. However I use locations and only have the active port selected for each location (i.e. for Home - airport only). It is definitely worth a try. R.

    Web Host: Unix or windows

Apart from security, UNIX has other advantages over windows on shared hosted solutions. UNIX is much better at separating the amount of resource (processing power, memory, etc.) that is available to each web site, and can create 'virtual UNIX servers'. This means that it is a lot more difficult...
