    How far away?

Thanks for your help, much appreciated. The wired connection will suit me fine just now. Unless the problems are to do with the iMac's Ethernet port, in which case at least I will have discovered the fault! The issue by the way involved a dodgy connection which sometimes worked, sometimes...

    How far away?

Hi, I am a networking newbie and so far it is doing my head in! I have had endless trouble trying to connect a wireless ethernet bridge to my iMac but it has been so traumatic I'm not even going to go there. Really, you don't want to know! :( Instead I intend to run a cable from the iMac...

iTunes music store open in Ireland

So, ten pence cheaper in Dundalk than in Newry. Pity you can't smuggle them over the border ...

iMovie Lowers Volume of Clips w/ Titles

I too have this problem with iMovie. Searching the web for fellow sufferers I find lots of discussion group posts about this issue, which no-one ever replies to. Surely to goodness someone out there knows the answer? And another thing ...using iMovie on my desktop G4 gives me hellish problems...

    New iTMS Countries? Add them!

No big deal Fryke, but can I remind those used to calling the UK 'England' that this is offensive to the inhabitants of the other countries of the UK - Scotland Wales and N.Ireland?

Apple probed for 'ripping off' customers

You have a good point about IP rights Mita, but there's another aspect of EU law here which is equally important. Any EU citizen should be able to buy any product in any other country of the EU. When Volkswagen tried to stop Brits buying their cars more cheaply in Belgium they were told it was...

Apple probed for 'ripping off' customers

The CA is actually arguing that, under EU law all EU consumers must be charged the same price for identical goods - after taking tax and currency variations into account, of course. That's the whole point of a 'single market'. Is it winging to ask for the rules to be applied? And by the way...

    what happened to VirtualPC7?

Yes but my point is, has he tried them? He doesn't say so and as a newbie may not be aware of they exist. Also, if he can't steam directly can he download them to his hard drive and then try? Apologies to SirMacsAlot if he has examined all the other options and is still tearing out the hair.

    what happened to VirtualPC7?

OK, so I am going to repeat myself here. Any reason why you dont want to use Windows Media Player for Mac? Does it not work for you? And what about VLC? VPC 7 won't solve your problem IMHO

    what happened to VirtualPC7?

Surely Windows Media Player for Mac will do this? Or VLC? Buying a complete PC seems a little over the top!

What happened to those 300,000 60G iPod drives?

I like Steven LUFC's notion that these drives are for the new iMac. After all, wouldn't that fit with the announced delays both by Apple and Toshiba? But of course it''s all guess work!

    iMovie clicks and pops

Hi, Can anyone explain why, when I add titles - and sometimes transitions - in iMovie I get clicks and pops on the soundtrack? I can clean these up with Protools but it's a time waster. Any ideas? Thanks (using iMovie 4 on a G4 1.25 GHz DP)

    Wintel

Hulkaros, I did say people who HAVE to use PC apps - and that includes me. Sometimes a specific program, rather than just a similar one is required. It's an issue of compatability with Wintel-based colleagues. This stopped me buying a G5 by the way. I bought a 1.25 DP G4 instead.

    Wintel

MisterMe may be jumping to conclusions. Of course I am aware Bochs has been discussed here before - however this seems to be software offering easier set up and management of Bochs. Am I wrong? I don't know about speed because I haven't tried it - perhaps somebody would like to?

    Wintel

For anyone who bought a G5 and absolutely MUST run PC software, the news that Microsoft has so far failed to update VPC for the G5 is a blow ... However, the UK Mac magazine MacUser is advising this interesting alternative. http://www.openosx.com/wintel/index.html I haven't tried it...

Ding-Dong the Witch is dead!! IE no more!

Pengu, Where is this debug/user agent menu or are you just kidding. Also ...changing banks may be a doddle in the US but here its a nightmare. Plus I like my bank, actually, apart from its fondness for MS! By the way, Mr K, i'm not overseas - you are!

Ding-Dong the Witch is dead!! IE no more!

I am puzzled that so many people in this thread have never experienced sites which will only work with IE. I can't use Safari for Internet banking because both of the banks I use have decided they will ONLy use IE. So Safari goes nowhere. And it isn't just banks. One of the UK's biggest online...

I logged onto the Apple site to get this update today. It is headlined as being available on the Mac OSX page ...but the link takes you to a page with no download. What happened ..did they pull it or does the fact i can't find it mean i am just plain stupid?

    Do you like the dock?

It seems to me we should all be grateful that we can customise X to use it the way we want. Not so easy with Windows, I think ... I'm a Fruitmenu fan - it has never been flakey for me. The dock is an OK idea, but it needs more thought. It can get very cluttered and I still can't work out...
