Oh yeh this was a post a long time ago, however I was doing the same thing at an office testing with my MBP, and i couldn't connect to the Windows Server 2003 File Server. I was entering it exactly as you say: smb://192.168.1.110/shared just hangs, maybe leopard will solve that if i upgrade?
