    eMac and Airport Card

The card has to make two clicks-- the first, when you seat it to attach the antenna, then again when you push it all the way in and it kinda disappears, just the little semicircular flap should be protruding. Had a similar problem when I installed the Extreme card in my eMac, didn't push it...

How to upgrade an Imac to os X?

Is it a slot-loading Blueberry or Indigo, or a tray-loading Bondi or Blueberry? You can install (and decently run) OS X 10.4 Tiger in a slot-loader with a firmware update and about half a gig or more of RAM; if it is a tray-loader, you're kinda stuck with OS 9 because even with a firmware...

Airport Extreme will not connect to 802.11g Router

Could it be that your iMac is trying to connect using wireless n, rather than g? Have you tried connecting via ethernet temporarily? Also maybe you could try switching your D-Link's authentication settings to Open System, if it is on Shared Key. BTW, you don't happen to have a 2.4 GHz...

    EMAC Freezing

Hope you can resolve your eMac problem. Whether or not you've got the bad capacitors, 256 MB is a terribly small amount of RAM to run OS X. Any Mac would be dog-slow with so little. I'd recommend at least 512 MB, one GB if you could swing it. And you don't need any special program to...

    revert to tiger from leopard

If you are having problems you might just as well try re-installing Leopard rather than going all the way back to Tiger. BTW, have you tried adding a new user account to see whether the problem is just on your own home library? Kind of the easiest first step.

upgrading mac os 10.4 from 10.3

I'm pretty sure that a even a Custom Install of Leopard will take up about 9 GB, because that's what mine came to on my G4. So with only 5 GB free, you might be hard pressed to clear up enough space on that 30 GB HD, Tim, even if you choose the simple Upgrade install. Like ora said, your best...

    New Mac Mini?

Ti Mactoonies please... Yes, if there really is a new mini with decent graphics, it would beat out the G5. Remember also that the minis are Energy Star rated and consume way less power than any Tower.

    Updating to Leopard G4

Leopard should actually run faster on your G4 than Tiger. I have both on my eMac and am blown away by how much more quickly Leopard boots and launches apps.

    Help needed troubleshooting unstable Mac-mini

I agree with the guy from the Apple Store, first perform an Archive and install, etc. But you might also consider the opportunity, while you're at it, to add a little more RAM and upgrade to Leopard. It will be considerably faster on your G4, I think you'd really appreciate the difference.

Why is coreservicesd eating up so much RAM?

I already updated last night with the delta, which went off without a hitch while I caught some shuteye. :) Anyway, coreservicesd is now behaving itself, and my trackball is working in Safari again. w00t.

    Help needed troubleshooting unstable Mac-mini

Someone else from the forum reported similar problems to yours, tomdkat. She has around 700 something MB RAM in her G4, and gets the spinning beach balls and inability to force quit. Now, I have a ten year old iMac with only 512 MB and it runs Tiger okay. Not fast mind you, but I don't get...

Why is coreservicesd eating up so much RAM?

And why is VM over 30GB? Okay, some history: Got an eMac 1.42 GHz, 2MB RAM with Tiger pre-installed. Used Migration Assistant to transfer over my settings and such from my old iMac G3, also running Tiger. This worked fine. Then I got an external HD from Newer Technology and...

    Modding the desktop

Running an up-to-date version of Application Enhancer will not cause any problems. That said, in my experience, there are some faulty/outdated guiKits that can cause problems with ShapeShifter, and slow down the system. Still, there are some well designed themes such as X-Metal, BBX Mercury...

What the %$#@! is going on with SU in Leopard?

Too late to take a screen shot, as I've already done all the updates on both my Leopard and Tiger drives. Incidentally, no problems under 10.4.11; with 10.5., if I try to quit the installer or restart, I get a dialog box saying there are downloads to install, and the only option is to Install...
