I've just bought myself a brand-new (sealed/never used) old Airport card for my iBook G3, i put it in, makde sure it was snug, attached the antenna, and booted the iBook up again. It doesn't though appear in Sys Prefs, and not under the Airport section in System Profiler.. what am i doing wrong?

he's right. the default, and obviously preferred way, is upgrade. you have to want a clean/archive and specify it.

I'm not sure you remember how fast your G5 is, or how slow 800 mhz is... even a 1.6ghz G5 is a hell of a lot faster than an 800mhz G4. anything under 1ghz is difficult for many things these days, whereas my 1.8ghz G5 is still pretty damn fast. to the point where i couldn't justify replacing it...
