Need to monitor for file changes

I guess it depends what events you want to monitor, but AppleScript should be able to do this w/o any trouble. There's a default AppleScript on your system that when activated will pop up a notification anytime a file has been added to a specific folder. it's very simplistic, but sounds like...

Powerbook gone mute - please help!

I had the same problem about a month or so ago on my powerbook 17. I unplugged it at the office where it'd been working, took it home, tried playing some music, and nothing. Turned out that it would play through external speakers or headphones, but not through the onboard speakers. I...

    Ruby Support in Tiger?

http://www.rubyonrails.com it's a web application framework. AMAZING how efficient it is. worth checking out these couple of tutorials, if only to read and see what it's capable of. (run through them if you have the time - but the setup for now at least, is much simpler on a pc...which...

    Ruby Support in Tiger?

So is there any updated/enhanced Ruby (for Rails) support in the Tiger releases? I've been getting really into it as of late, so am curious if it's been taken into consideration at all in Tiger. thanks in advance!

    Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” — $94.99 - Back on Amazon

Well Amazon had their little disclaimer that release dates are not definite, but when the rebate info was up, it stated that qualifying purchases had to be made by may 31... Amazon doesn't charge you on a pre-order, until the item is in stock and shipped. So it leads me to believe that by the...

    PHP & MySQL wont Communicate

well, it's probably not the answer you're looking for, but check out MAMP it'll install all the services (apache/mysql/php) in their own directory, and have them all working together flawlessly. good for a temporary (or noob) dev environment.

    Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” — $94.99 - Back on Amazon

as soon as I heard, I preordered mine with the $35 rebate details. I've got the confirmation email and everything - says my order will ship by May 27th (which is a friday...good time for a party!) But now the information has been removed from Amazon...they apparently tipped a hat that Apple...

Need recommendation for Cell Phone/PDA w/ Bluetooth

Well, I picked up the Blackberry 7100 (t-mobile flavor) today. while it's a great phone, and the predictive text system is utterly sick how well it works, the connectivity issues bother me. it's got Bluetooth, but it's really only for pairing a BT headset. I can pair it with my powerbook...

    17" Powerbook: keyboard/touchpad no response

Should "Option B" move forward, don't forget who confirmed your bug. :D But you said plugging in an external mouse would be recognized? I'd not tried that. I'll remember that should it happen again. I heard rumor that 10.3.9 was seeded, so maybe they're gonna fix this issue...

    17" Powerbook: keyboard/touchpad no response

hey bd5150 - yeah, my 17" pb has done the same thing a few times. I've run a fsck, cleaned all the system cache, optimized with onyx, repaired permissions... so far so good. But things seem to get goofy when I plug/unplug my usb stuff...so who knows. anyone else seeing this? doesn't...

Need recommendation for Cell Phone/PDA w/ Bluetooth

supposedly pocketmac (http://www.pocketmac.net/) will do the trick with any blackberry devices. don't know from experience though. I like my t610, but it's not perfect. I just can't find the next thing I'll be as happy with w/o paying $500 and up...
