Word X "Unexpected Quit" on file/open or file/save

In on an IMAC G5/Panther

Recently my MS WORD X quits/crashes at the very moment I try to open a file (file/open) or when I try to save a new document. The application opens as normal, and allows me to create a new doc from the startup, but if I try to open another word doc or when I try to save the current one it QUITS!!!.... and this is driving me crazy.

I have tried unsuccesfully the following workarounds:

Remove the fonts from user/library
Remove Fonts (left the basic ones) from HD/library
Deleted Word preferences (all)
Deleted Font caches from the library.

What else can I do??? anyone is having this same problem?
It used to work perfectly just before, I installed a new font collection. But after I removed then (both physicaly and from FONTbook) the problem persist.
 
After a gazillion attemps, I finally got the culprit.

When I updated the software, the "updater" somehow installed a currupted Appleworks importer file on the shared applications folder.

Luckily, I replaced it with a a previous one from the non-updated version
and.... Word is alive again!!!!


Technology is such an illusion, it never works as advertised!!!!

well still I can live with out it ::ha::
