I have a MBPro with two external firewire drives. Records DV footage fine but I am getting dropped frames when outputing back to the deck. Any way in OSX to test the HD speeds to see if that is the cause? Is there something built-in to OSX or a program to download? thanks

4 drives? wow Ya I agree they seem to fill up fast. I have about 740 gb total. I have 3 other drives out of the enclosures that I use to back those up incase they fail. The problem is a shoot too many photos and have little time to edit out the bad ones so I just save them all. You never know...

Decided to get two of CompUsa's firewire enclosures for $60 a piece and a 500 gb maxtor drive for one of them. Works well for the Mac Book pro so far. Allows you to capture DV firewire video while connected and daisy chain them together.

I took out the RAM, and processor and put them back in but it does the same thing. I found this article that sounds like my problem but I don't know where to find Jumper block J25? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=95054

One other thing, the processor heat sink is completly cold inside even though the fan is running hard. Usually the heatsink gets pretty hot, even at start up.

How do you erase a locked jpg photo file? I can't even get it in the trash. I somehow downloaded a locked jpg file from a clients CD and OSX won't let me trash it. Please help. I tried option and command clicking when putting it in the trash but no luck.
