    >9Gb Swap files

Marwin: could you solve the problem, or do you still experience it? Maybe 1 gig is still in the 'normal' range, but I have 1 Gb Ram + vm that grows to more than 9 Gb... I don't really consider that as normal and think tere has to be a problem with memory refreshment with an app.

    >9Gb Swap files

The vm is indeed increasing again (now somewhere above 3 Gig's). Does anyone have an idea how i can TRACE which app is not clearing the vm cache (I am not affraid of using the terminal btw...).

I ment swap files... But still 9 gig seems a lot. At the moment I don't see the problem anymore, but I still have the impression that the vm is growing

    >9Gb Swap files

I always keep my computer on and I use quite a lot of apps, but 9Gb is a lot imo. At a certain point I couldn't do much because the disk was full (my Os X partition is only 20 Gb)... So I had to restart to clear the vm (loging out and back in didn't help...). Also, my dock-settings were lost...

    Os X 10.2.4?

I agree that dock customization would be nice! I was thinking of different independent parts of the dock (so you could have a separate dock with some 'monitors' like cycles, memory monitor and network monitor e.g.). But I would also like to see more customisability in general (including...

the answer to the Tablet PC

I'm pretty sure that the guys at Apple will do something with this idea... But I would rather say that there is no need to come upe with something similar than in the PC market -Although I think Ink just rocks already and DOES e.g. Dutch handwriting recognition in comparison with the XP-tablet...

GIANT HUMONGOUS HOLE in mac os x security!!!

I'm thinking that sharing /Volumes might not be such a good idea. If you would work with partitions, you would make these available/visible too... I think messing with NetInfo to do this isn't exactly the same as keeping factory settings. I've never experienced a trouble when accessing my...

    Silent startup

what do you mean by that??? Well, at least if you (accidentally) pull out the USB cable the hole thing freezes (e.g. when I want to connect the modem with my iBook). And this freezing may also happen when the iMac is woken up from sleep...

    Silent startup

I completely agree with you, concerning not having to shut down in Mac OS X. On my G4 (at work) I am often running folding at home, so my machine is still using the unused processor time. And I never switch it off... My iBook is also nearly always on (sleep modus when not in use), but the...

Why the volume key lag in Jaguar?

I had the following problem for some time (and I guess that RAM is not the reason), but it dissapeared when I installed the Carbon Sound Manager via SU. When I tried to adjust the volume with the keyboard, I get to see the -how do you call that-pop-up that the volume is changing, but the...

    Silent startup

Just wondering if there is a way to boot silently (when the volume is left on before the computer was switched off). Why? Because I don't want to wake my parents when coming home late... Well of course I could plug in headphones before pushing the switch, but I was wondering that there is...

    What's this?: idle_threa?

I found it myself, sorry guys! That Idle thread thing is in fact nothing to worry about isn't it? The real reason was that I left a movie file (the two towers-next lord of the rings) selected in the finder and it seemed to play all by itself in the background. It wasn't intended and as I noticed...

    What's this?: idle_threa?

Recently I noticed (I have cycles running all the time) that my CPU-usage was higher than normal without even doing anything special. So I typed top in the terminal and this is what I got: (see attachment) I noticed that a hig percentage of the processor time was used for 2 things: the...
