How to connect OS X and OS 9.2 Macs via Ethernet

Thanks anyway, Trip! It's not my cable, cause it works fine when I start up both Macs with OS 9. Seems to be a communication problem between OS's. I just realized, however, that I didn't upgrade my one Mac to OS 9.2, it's still on 9.1. I'll do that next :-)

How to connect OS X and OS 9.2 Macs via Ethernet

Can anyone tell me how to connect a Mac using OS X and one using OS 9.2 (server) via Ethernet? AppleTalk and File Sharing are running on both Macs, and yet the server's not appearing in the "connect to server" dialog under OS X. Even manually typing in the IP adress of the OS 9.2 Mac doesn't...

    @-key in German OS X

Thanks, tencars! There it is indeed. I wonder if there's some sense in placing it there or if it's simply a question of available space. Anyway, thanks for helping me out!

    @-key in German OS X

Thanks for the advice, guys. Neither works out, though. I did check with KeyCaps but didn't find it, and I tried both your tips. Under OS 9 the @ is at alt-shift-1. I guess they simply forgot under OS X. Sigh.

    Can't start filesharing

I have the same problem, also with an iBook. Nothing works w/ or wo/ AppleTalk. I can't get any connection to the outside world going, as a matter of fact. I'm wondering if the File Sharing problems are somehow related to the PPP connect maladies I'm experiencing. Any suggestions?

    PPP Connect (LCP Failure)

Same problem on an iBook... info in PPP connect is checked a zillion times and correct... deleting prefs doesn't help either. Connect under OS 9 with same data no problem.
