    finally got it sorted. there was a bad ram card that had corrupted the hard drive. put in my old 256 ram cards and a 160 gig hard drive I had in an enclosure (reformatted) and all is working now. I will send the ram back to OWC and see what they can do for me and start putting things back...

    Depressing the D key still goes straight to "You need to restart your computer" The same if I try and let it load by itself.
