Creating a Mac OS X startup disk CD ?

Can I create a boot CD with a CD-RW or do I have to use a regular CD? A CD-RW works fine with OS 9 but I can't seem to get it to work with OS X.

Should I change /tmp write access rights?

Oops, I accidently changed this without thinking, now I can't remember what the OS X default is for the directory "/private/tmp". If someone could simply check in Terminal to see what the permissions are, I would much appreciate it. "ls -ld /private/tmp" not "ls -ld /tmp", as this doesn't yield...

    .htaccess - Can't Create

Does a .htaccess file have to be created in Terminal? If I try to create any file with a period at the beginning within the Finder, Mac OS X won't let me. I was hoping I could make a text file in BBEdit Lite, but no luck. I am somewhat new to Apache, as well as UNIX, and am still trying to...

I got these installations to work without a hitch and "mysql test" worked fine that first time. Where is Apache index.html???

I am new to both UNIX and Apache. I am trying to learn both, but my main focus is on Apache at the moment. I recently installed PHP and MySQL onto Mac OS 10.1.3 which went off without a problem. I am using the Apache that installed with my system and it is up and running. The big problem that I...

    developer tools

LinuxPPC.com notes that there are security issues on all versions of Linux in regards to the su command. They recommend disabling su or using sudo. http://www.linuxppc.com/support/updates/security/ I don't know if this applies to Mac OS X or not.
