    .Mac HomePage TOTAL FRUSTRATION

Well, I just hit your website and got a July 2nd, 2003 website. Is this new or the one you're trying to delete?

    Finder Not Running

I am running WindowShadeX, and yes QT6.3 but haven't seen the problem in a few days. Seeing that Apple makes the 'whole widget', I would suggest that it is APE that is incompatible with QuickTime, not the other way around.

    Ping of Death?

I get 4 Ping of Death entries in my router log when I log in to iChatAV. Looks like it only happens when I start iChat, not when logging out and back in without quitting.

    Ping of Death?

My router is listing Ping of Death messages, seems it happens when using iChat AV beta. Anyone have any details on this? It's not alot of packets. Sent from my internal ip to an ip outside my network. Don't know if it's an AIM server or not. Tks,

    Fast User Switching

It requires an Admin name and password before it will restart. There's no timeout.

    Fast User Switching

On a B&W machine with G4 upgrade and stock 16MB video card Fast User Switches give no visual hoopla at all. It just switches... BOOM!

    "Finder not running"

I've had this in 10.2.6, very random behavior. I haven't seen it in the last 2 days since I turn off all of my auto-login items. (Konfab, VirtualDesktop, Net Monitor, and HenWen/LetterSticker.)

    Finder Not Running

Nope, just running a few add-ons and haven't seen this until very recently. It's pretty hit-or-miss. I just want to make sure there's no major problem happening.

    Finder Not Running

My TiBook 1GHz with 10.2.6 seems to be runing just fine, but something strange has started happening. When ctrl-clicking on the Finder icon in the Dock, it says "Finder Not Running." Also, there's no black triangle below it to indicate that it's running. Logging out/in does nothing...

    Installing PostgreSQL with Fink?

It doesn't look like PostgreSQL is listed in the software available through Fink. Does anyone know where to get it? I had a version installed awhile ago, but I *think* it's not compatible somehow with Fink. Tks,

    Ichatav - User Names

The iChat help suggests that all I need is a .mac address on my end, and that my full .mac email address is used to connect to AIM users. Am I misunderestimating something here?

    Ichatav - User Names

OK so do you need .Mac to use iChat. I tried it with a friend on AOL awhile ago and couldn't get it to work. She has no .Mac and I have no AOL. What do we need to get it to work?

    Browser War!

Safari has autofill. I recently began entering my first name into a form and it auto-completed. I hit tab, and it filled in Middle, Last, Address, City, State (popup), Zip, Phone and Email fields for me. Worked just fine!

    scrolling terminal window???

Hmm, copying the script from my message above and pasting it into Apple's Terminal running pico works for me. Don't use xTerm in X11, use Terminal, it should work. Anyhow, welcome to OS X Jaguar!!

    KDE and Gnome on X11

OK, is there a simple way to remove KDE short of digging around for all of its files? Or I may stick with KDE for now. I'm not really using it, just learning what's what.

    scrolling terminal window???

You can add scrollbars to X11's xTerm. open Terminal, and from your home directory type: pico .Xdefaults paste this text into pico: ## XTERM SETTINGS ## see /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc/html/xterm.1.html ## or man xterm *XTerm*deleteIsDEL: true xterm*saveLines...

    scrolling terminal window???

X11 allows you to run many unix/linux based apps besides Terminal. Take a look at Darwinports http://www.opendarwin.org/projects/darwinports/ or Fink http://fink.sourceforge.net/.

    iMac 1ghz seems extremely slow

After about 6 months of use I noticed that my 1GHz TiBook was running slower than it had been, so I backed up everything and did a reformat-reinstall. MUCH faster startup/shutdown and app launching. General app use is probably the same, which is to say fast enough for me. I'm not sure if Archive...
