    OS X Problems... still

Deep breaths. Breathe in, exhale.... Thank you, to everybody regardless of my "bitching and whining", the responses tossed back and forth that neither of us liked, and so on. Uber-thanks out to Hulkaros and Urbansory if for no other reason than letting me know I wasn't alone with this...

    OS X Problems... still

What can I say to everybody calling me a whiner and a bitcher because I don't want to buy a new machine and am upset my machine is slow? I really get the feeling most of you are High school or college kids who didn't even buy the first machine you own, let alone have to deal with the prospect of...

    OS X Problems... still

Not much real life experience, have ya? Ever have to pay a few bills? Try to make a business work in this ecomomy? Have any worries about the wife and kids health insurance costs? I doubt it the way you sound. What makes you think my Mac, configured as is running OS 9, was borderline? Have...

    OS X Problems... still

Oh please, don't insult me with "you should have researched it" crap. If somebody point me to a single article pointing out OS X speed issues with APS, DWM, AI, etc., dated a year ago or so (before the fevor had died down). I read a TON of stuff, I stated I waited a whole year before even making...

    OS X Problems... still

I know OS 9 is faster on my machine, that's my point. I never read anywhere before upgrading, and I waited until last summer before making the jump, that there were any type of speed/performance related issues. All I heard was how marvelous it is and "what was I waiting for"? I know how good...

    OS X Problems... still

I tell ya, I thought I was satisifed, but I am frustrated beyond belief again. OS X, is NOT for everyone. I am a Mac evangelist, and I can see the advantages OS X has for most. If you have a newer machine, or just use it to read email, it's a great OS. But as for me, and I am sure a silent...

Smoothly going from 9 to X with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Snapshot.

thedbp, you are a genius. Simple as that. I just finished installing my Radeon 9000 card, which took all of 3 minutes, and my machine is hauling ass. Not only that, I could swear it looks better to boot. I never thought abotu video card, and never found anythign mentioning that in any of my...

Smoothly going from 9 to X with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Snapshot.

or at least worth the shot, thedbp! I realize I should upgrade, but last year was a slow year biz wise for me and try to explain to the wife why I need ANOTHER mac! So I was hoping there would be an inexpensive way to at least try to fix this thing, it was working fine before the upgrade...

    OS X--incredibly slow

Hey abyard, I guess a lot of people would have different idea's of what is and isn't faster depending on what they are trying to do with the machine. Faster to me means just that, faster. I am having problems doing simple functions in Photoshop and Dreamweaver, like file open, layer style...

    OS X--incredibly slow

Thanks Bobw! An upgrade like that costs about $500 clams, though, right? Although it's cheaper than having to fork out the dough for a new machine, it's not all THAT much cheaper, ya know? For $1100 more I get a kick-ass new machine. But thank you, most mac users (I consider myself a Mac...

    OS X--incredibly slow

I have a long post in the graphics forum about this. I work on my mac for a living, and I regret upgrading to OS X. Speed is the issue, I need it and currently it just simply takes too long to do simple taks in X. I love the OS, so long as I'm not working in Photoshop/ImageReady or...

Smoothly going from 9 to X with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Snapshot.

Well, It's been a few weeks and I have ironed out a few MINOR problems, thanks to Racer X and Chabig (thanks again!). However... The biggest issues for me are using Photoshop/ImageReady and Dreamweaver. This is how I make my living, and I have to say working in these programs in OS X is...

Smoothly going from 9 to X with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Snapshot.

Been away on business for a few days, so I havn't even tried some of those solutions. I just didn't want too much time to pass by without some kind of response from me. There are too many good ideas in your post to get specific, but thanks for the instructions on the "get info"... and the...

Smoothly going from 9 to X with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Snapshot.

Nobody wishes OS X would run smoother than 9 than I do, believe me. I am a HUGE Mac evangelist and still pump OS X to people, I know all of it's benefits and have been working on these machines for nearly a decade. But this new OS is alien to me (where I used to be able to fix and tinker with...

    Hate to Admit it. ( X vs 9 )

I'm on it right now, at home. It never crashes, networking is a breeze and is overall a great OS. But... I work at home almost as much as I do at work, where I am still running 9.2. Why? Because I work in a hi-speed envirorment, and the window shade-less Os DOES slow you down. And that slight...

    OS 9 and OS X Fonts ??

I also move my fonts over, but am still having major problems. It seems like OS X doesn't recognse a lot of my old fonts, simple ones such as Helvetica Rounded. Are there any other cases of this happening? Would a font managing program work better?
