If I launch InDesign and then try to open the file "Open" is greyed out. InDesign doesn't even see the files as Indesign files. The only way to get indesign to open them is to rename each individual file with the proper file extension.

After a bit of searching and reading on this site I think I know what's going on. These files were created and used with older Mac's using an AFP connection. Sounds like the fix is to copy all the files to a Mac using the AFP connection, delete all the network files, then copy the files back...
