SMB Question

Hello, I have a handful of Mac's in a mostly Windows environment. I have a 2003 Server with a couple Mac volumes. When I attach to volumes using smb://
I get connected but the Adobe Indesign files in the volume won't open. The Mac's seem to think they don't have a program associated with the files.

If I connect to the same volume using afp:// the indesign files open fine.

Any ideas???

Thanks, in advance.

After a bit of searching and reading on this site I think I know what's going on. These files were created and used with older Mac's using an AFP connection. Sounds like the fix is to copy all the files to a Mac using the AFP connection, delete all the network files, then copy the files back using a SMB conection.

Thanks.

What do you mean by "won't open"? If you mean that they don't launch the proper application when you double-click, then use the File/Open dialog box to open them directly.

If I launch InDesign and then try to open the file "Open" is greyed out. InDesign doesn't even see the files as Indesign files.
The only way to get indesign to open them is to rename each individual file with the proper file extension.
