rebooting an OS X machine remotely

it doesn't seem to be working. Now System Events is running, but it hasn't restarted. I don't have to confirm a restart or something, do I?

rebooting an OS X machine remotely

right, and I need a way to remotely make the machine log in locally, if that makes sense. I want the machine to pretend as if I'm actually sitting there logging in through the gui

rebooting an OS X machine remotely

well, it should be set to automatically log in, as that's what it does when I restart it from the gui. but the problem is that it didn't log in when I restarted through ssh

rebooting an OS X machine remotely

that's kinda what I had figured too, but is there a way to make the computer log in? I wonder if maybe my httpd issues have to do with that I installed apache2 and that might not start until login, unlike personal web sharing (apache 1).

rebooting an OS X machine remotely

no, I'm just using ssh to login via an external machine. nothing so fancy as apple remote desktop

rebooting an OS X machine remotely

The message sent to logged in users is not the problem. I am the only logged in user to my machine. The problem is that, upon "restarting", the machine does not fully boot. By fully boot I mean it does not log in the default user (me) in the gui, and launch all the login items for that user...

rebooting an OS X machine remotely

nope, that still didn't work. here is a ps listing of what's going on right now. as stated, there is no SystemUIServer, Finder, or httpd, or anything that should be running if it were booted up through the gui login, as it should do automatically. I'm pretty much as a loss as to what to do until...

rebooting an OS X machine remotely

Hi, I have a problem where my OS X server is far away from me and I'm having to login to it remotely. This is fine and all, but I installed some software on it and I need to restart. I tried using the shutdown -r now command while logged in through ssh, but that just seems to have brought it...

Colorsync with Hitachi CM715 on 10.2

Okay, as stated in the subject, I have a Hitachi CM715 monitor hooked up through an agp Radeon Mac Edition, and I am running 10.2. As it stands, the colors of many graphics appear to have too many greens and blues. So, I tried to make a new ColorSync profile for the monitor, hoping it would...

    Anonymous ftp problems

Since I installed 10.2, my anonymous ftp login has been broken. I had it working perfectly in 10.1.5 as I used it nearly every day, but now when I try to log in as anonymous or ftp, it just gives me the error "550 Can't set guest priveleges". Can anyone give a little insight as to what this...

    Software update gives error

I cannot use Software Update. Whenever I try to check for updates, S/U says "Error occured while checking for updates." This is written to the Console log: dyld: /System/Library/CoreServices/Software Update.app/Contents/Resources/SWUpdateEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/SWUpdateEngine malformed...

    Installer Update Failure

I tried to install this update, but in the middle of the optimizing part of it, I got a kernel panic while ejecting a cd. Now I can't use Installer.app, and Software Update tells me there is an error while checking for updates. Installer.app logs these messages when I try to start it: Launch...

    Colorsync in cocoa apps

Well, I did have one corrupted file, but it was my printer's profile. Fixing it had no effect whatsoever on the rest of my system. Thanks for the suggestion though

    Colorsync in cocoa apps

Hi, I somehow have my ColorSync settings totally wrong, and I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. OmniWeb and Preview both show colors in pictures to be way off, and so does IE when I turn on ColorSync support. Right now my settings in the ColorSync PrefPane are: --Device Profiles--...

Formac ProTV tuner for OS X?

Sorry, I don't have an answer for ya, but I like to put things i'm interested in back up at the top. It really would be great to be able to use my $100 tv tuner in X. Since I have to boot into 9 to watch TV or listen to the radio, I don't do that very much. On a side note, It would also be...

i've got it, and it seems to work pretty well, but when i have it installed I can't shut down my computer. i read something about there being a missing file that would cause shutdown problems, but i think i did the fix, adding the path to the sharity folder to the ~/.cshrc file but still no...
