    Jump straight to favorite Sys Pref in dock

    Snard is a small "dockling" app that gives you a list of all your preferences when clicking on the icon in the dock. It also show your app's and document's. That is the one's you added to Snard. You can also launch a app as root. Check it out, it's pretty neat! (versiontracker.com)

    Moving files using the Toolbar

    I guess this is known for most of you, but still... Dropping a file on a icon (ex. Applications) in the toolbar would result in that file being moved to the applications folder. For me who always dragged between different finder win's this turned out to be real handy.

    The traah in The Dock is avalible from anywhere. On the Desktop it gets covered by app win's. More and more apps are using the Trash in a "drag-to-Trash-to-throw-this-item" behavior. Putting it on the Desktop will make it less usefull, so why bother...

    Speed?!

    Classic environment leave the memorymanagement to X. Does this means that the memory settings for a classic app is meaningless, or should you increase the min/max memorysettings to, let's say 100MB per app.

    Did you try to log in as root and then edit the file in PropertyListEditor. I've done this on 8 different machines, 1 PB G4 , 1 iBook and 6 G4 466, without any problems.

    I encoutered the same thing when using the su cmd. After logging out and then logging in as root in log in, I was able to save the file.

    It is possible to use PropertyListEditor, on the developer CD, to edit propertylists like this in a bundle. This way means no kneed for unix cmd's. [Edited by binHex on 03-28-2001 at 06:55 AM]

    Sounds in OS X? Request for a tip!

    If I understoud the problem right, then this may help! With iTunes set om AIFF encoding I was able to drag songs from iTunes directly into user/library/sounds/. After changing .aif to .AIFF they came up just fine in SOUND PREF. [Edited by binHex on 03-28-2001 at 03:17 AM]

    Help! Can't install OS9 (Classic) from OSX

    I was succesfully able to install 9.1 using the CD that came with my powerbook, not OSX. -------- That's good, but be aware that for AGP G4's and PB G4 bought in foreign countries with languages that X don't yet support the install through the original CD does'nt do the trick.
