    detecting/establishing a pppoe connection

You have to have a configuration called "pppoe" in Internet Connect. Open the internet connect and change your default connection to "pppoe" or change that part of the script to whatever your default connection is. So: tell application "Internet Connect" to connect configuration "[put your...

    Linux/KDE with X11 with OSX

Have you seen this? I have been looking forward to a native port of KDevelop for a little while now. That would be awesome. http://dot.kde.org/1073009304/

    Newbie: Xterm help

I believe he is talking about launching emacs from xterm(which is an x11 app that lets you access the shell), instead of from terminal. In that case the DISPLAY flag is the way to go.

    Windows XP On 10.3 700mhz G4

Maybe I am mistaken, but isn't the PowerPC processor (G3/G4/G5) made by IBM? I am impressed with your results running VirtualPC on your mac, I have a 1GHZ G4 eMac with VPC/windows xp on it, and VPC runs so slow it is almost unbearable for me!! EDIT: Lordofrealbasic, your website appears...

Can Apple Give a Straight Answer?

Every night I repackage my G4 eMac back in it's original packaging, and place it back in it's box. I then shrink wrap the whole thing to make sure it is sealed airtight. Then I place it in a custom made climate controlled storage facility guarded by 2 Mac Geniuses from the Apple store just in...

    Very Disappointed with Firefox

I don't have any problems with Firefox at all. Perhaps it is not as "Mac-ish" as Safari, but the interface is better than Camino IMHO. The rendering is a bit slower than Safari, I agree, but not by much. Conversely, the rendering is much higher quality and more standards compliant than Safari...

    Viruses On Os X

Not to be a buzzkill on the abscence of Virii from our humble world of Macdom, but with the comming x86 based systems, we are going to become vulnerable to all of the low-level memory resident virii out there. The ones that don't need an operating system to run. Also, in theory, if you have...

    Safari will not launch

Uh Oh... I just sent mine out to have the logic board replaced (had the screen die on me). I'll let you know if mine does the same after it comes back. Does Firefox run properly? How about your other internet enabled applications?

    Windows programs on tiger?

Missing Sync works great. I have used it with Sony Clie, iPaq, and some other devices. I never tried PalmDesktop with a Clie, but I did use it with a Palm and it was really terrible software, compared to MissingSync.

    Windows programs on tiger?

The "MAC" is not the problem here. Clearly mac supports video and voip technologies quite well. There is nothing a Windows computer can do that a Mac can't. NOTHING. Unfortunately, Microsoft and their buddies over at Yahoo! put Mac development on the back burner, and decide not to develop the...
