Ding-Dong the Witch is dead!! IE no more!

Hey, I use M$ Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player because I must have the ability to access certain streaming radio stations. Safari, although I think it is great, won't and can't access certain necessary information. And Safari, isn't ready for prime time just yet, there are too many...

Harware issues - boot process diagnosis

Typing Command S in OS X allows one to view the boot process. My Wallstreet has essentially been rendered useless, as it only boots to the point where Ethernet comes up on the screen. See below: Ethernet (BMac): Polled transmit timeout -2 Ethernet (BMac): Link up at 10 Mbps - Half Duplex...

OS 10.2.5 FP Imac System freezing - a new Mother of all problems (to me at least)

Yeah, I thought I had it down, but never thought about running just from the install disk. One can relearn something new every day without having altzheimer's.

OS 10.2.5 FP Imac System freezing - a new Mother of all problems (to me at least)

Urbansory, Thank you so much for that advice. To this point, I hadn't realized that using the install cd disk utility would bring such beneficial results. It took care of the issue, something my other efforts never did. Also, when the freezes occurred, my system finder and applications...

OS 10.2.5 FP Imac System freezing - a new Mother of all problems (to me at least)

My Flatpanel original 700mhz machine is freezing every time I start it up. It all started with the OS upgrade to 10.2. I've tried everything from DiskWarrior to Norton to the Disk Utility. I've even checked the ram in OS 9 with a memory tester. The memory checks out as ok. I have 10.1.5 on a...

The mother of all OS X problems

I pulled one of each respective ram chip, in both instances the same symptoms occurred. I'm down to the processor card or the main board. Now I need to find a working processor card and give it a try. Thanks for the responses and helpful advice.

The mother of all OS X problems

Anyone know of a good unix site that I could survey on this issue? I figure someone might know a bit more about the boot process and why this thing is hanging on my Wallstreet. Thanks

The mother of all OS X problems

No, Dixonbm, its not me although were pretty close to each other in Alaska terms, we're a mere 700 or so miles apart. He has a good idea tho, I might be able to afford to purchase an old Ti-book with the parting out of my trusty ol Wallstreet. I pulled and reseated the memory, reseated the...

The mother of all OS X problems

I replaced the hard drive with the old one. No better results. I'm wondering if the motherboard has come loose. I'll try punching it back down when I re-install the other hard drive. I guess I've verified that its not the hard drive. What next? Bad ram? Any other speculation?

The mother of all OS X problems

Thanks, I'm going after a 17 inch portable as soon as I can get it. Though I'd like to pass this machine along to a friend or relative when I get it restored. Fortunately all my data is accessible and available rightaway. Cheers!

The screen hinges have failed twice. But in each case there has been no damage to the video cables. Thanks for the thought.

The mother of all OS X problems

No new ram. No changes in this machine's configuration in some time. I think the hard drive suspiscion may be a good possibility. I've just reformatted the drive and run Norton on it. No defects at this point. I'll keep everyone posted as this proceeds. One thing I have noticed is that even...

The mother of all OS X problems

I'm at my wit's end. My powerbook g3, complete with its repaired and now broken again hinges is definitely on its last legs. It had a kernel panic yesterday. So, I pulled out my trusty Diskwarrior application, ran it through its paces, but hey! It didn't work. I ran Norton, no positive results...

Testing 10.2 on a PowerBook Wallstreet

Just wanted to let you know my Wallstreet handles 512 megs of ram. I've read Sonnet makes an upgrade card that handles this amount of ram. After I get a new Ti-book, I'll upgrade my Wallstreet to a 500 mhz, I think, G4 Sonnet . That should make it very useable for my children.
